Take Away:

Using extended uses in ObjectPAL example.

KB100305

Using Extended Uses

Extended Uses allows you to do compile time binding. This gives you the freedom of not having to distribute some source files. Follow the embedded comments.

Example 1 (Requires secrets3.lsl or secrets3.ldl.)
;Library::cmMsg
method cmMsg()
  msgInfo("Message",
       "This message is from a library.")
endMethod

;Form.Button::pushButton
Uses ObjectPAL
  "secrets3.lsl"
endUses

method pushButton(var eventInfo Event)
  var
    libSecrets3 Library
  endVar

  libSecrets3.open("secrets3")
  libSecrets3.cmMsg()
endMethod
Example 2 (Requires secrets3.lsl during compile only.)
;Library::Const
;Note: Example 2 also works with custom types.
Const
  kHeader = "Warning"
  kMsg = "Your license has expired."
endConst

;Form.Button::pushButton
Uses ObjectPAL
  "secrets3.lsl"
endUses

method pushButton(var eventInfo Event)
  msgInfo(kHeader, kMsg)
endMethod
Example 3 (The old way.)
;Library::cmMsg
method cmMsg()
  msgInfo("Message",
      "This message is from a library.")
endMethod

;Form.Button::pushButton
Uses ObjectPAL
  cmMsg()
endUses

method pushButton(var eventInfo Event)
var
  libSecrets3 Library
endVar

libSecrets3.open("secrets3")
libSecrets3.cmMsg()
endMethod
