Forbes.com today announced some disturbing news: There is a hack that can be used to compromise your router. The hacking technique has been known for several years, but a new variation on it puts many, many routers at risk.
Not sure if you use a router? If you have a network, and if it allows multiple users to access the Internet, you most definitely have a router somewhere on your network.
The greatest risk is to users that have not completed configuration of their router. Most routers ship with a default administrative account and password. Unfortunately, those credentials are widely known.
At the very least, you should change the factory default password.
As with all passwords, it should be:
Strong (consult your router's documentation to determine how long a password can be, what characters are acceptable).
