1. Paradox on Windows Server 2012
We migrated from using a run of the mill Windows XP box as a server to Windows Server 2012; one of the applications we use is a simple 3 table database which stopped working the moment the files were being accessed from the new server. We could see data but trying to add anything would result in a Lock Time Out error. I discovered that if I remove Referential Integrity from the detail table structure, and just assign it through the data model on the form, everything works. Would it be OK to leave it like that? or would it be somehow dangerous for the integrity of the data? Could the problem have come from some setting on the server? The person who installed the server for us doesn't think so but I'm not sure he is as familiar with Windows 2012 Server as I thought. For the time being I will be monitoring the data and checking that nothing is lost. Any suggestions? Thanks

I had a real good experience with the Prestwood IT team when I converted my workstations from XP to Win7. I was getting .net directory errors. Their pricing was very fair and, in my case, I had no problem paying to get the problem resolved because I was wasting way too much time trying to fix it on my own. Good luck with whichever route take on this! JB

RE: {Too Long}
That's exactly the point: I don't want to open a new instance. If you double-click on a .db or .fsl file in Windows Exporer, it should open in Paradox. If you don't close Paradox, go back to Explorer, and double-click on another file, it should open in the same instance of Paradox. My problem is that it tries to open a NEW instance of Paradox and produces the "Could not initialize BDE: Directory is busy" error.   It's very annoying because every time I need to open a new file I have to do it through the Paradox interface.

How can I use a Date variable in paradox SQL?
I'm trying to select records based on date; if I do the following it works Aux = "Citas"

dbTable =  ":Citas:" + Aux TempFile = ":Citas:##Temp" + Aux SQLVar = SQL SELECT * FROM ~dbTable WHERE

(FechaCita < '01/18/2013') endSQL

SQLVar.ExecuteSQL (PacData, TempFile) but if I try to use a variable for the date comparison it gives me an error (Type mismatch in expression):    FechaMaxS = "18/01/2013" SQLVar = SQL SELECT * FROM ~dbTable WHERE (FechaCita < ~FechaMaxS ) endSQL I also tried the following but it gives the same error: SQLVar = SQL SELECT * FROM ~dbTable WHERE (FechaCita < CAST(~FechaMaxS AS DATE) ) endSQL Could anyone tell me the correct syntax?  Thanks

It still doesn't work. I tried:    FechaMaxD = Date(1, 18, 2013) SQLVar = SQL SELECT * FROM ~dbTable WHERE (FechaCita < ~FechaMaxD ) endSQL And it still returns the same error

Using a delivered library produces error
Hi: I am trying to use a delivered Library instead of the non-delivered file, it works perfectly in the non-delivered version, but if I specify the .ldl in the USES clause, I get "Error: This file does not have any symbol table information" I actually tried specifying the .lsl file in the USES clause and then explicitly opening the .ldl in the Open() method and it will work, but If I need to distribute the .fsl is negates the purpose completely Can anybody help me with this?
