Re: EXTENDED USES
FWIW,, , I tried the conditions you mentioned (test library and form) under Pdox 8 (7 isn't as handy), and it works fine, with the uses statement set to EITHER, , Uses ObjectPAL, "dirlib.lsl", enduses, , OR, , Uses ObjectPAL, dirset() string, endUses, , (your instructions didn't say that you removed the "objectpal" identifier, so I didn't do so either)

How to fully support all locale settings?
I have a program that does a lot with strings, and is required to work everywhere in the world, so also in Asia for example. What is the way to do this in Delphi? Only use the Ansi... string functions? If i understand correctly the default string type should support this. If i write code like, , var SomeString: string;, SomeChar: char;, begin, if SomeString[1] = SomeChar then blablaDoes this work in other locales? If not how to do this? Confused How do i get the length of a string (in characters)?, , If i understand correctly the only reason Delphi is not 100% unicode is because it would break Win9x compatibility. Please go ahead Borland! I don't want to worry about this crap...

1. Displaying graphic images in DBGrid components

An example of work I did to display a graphic (+ text) in a single column of a DBGrid based on two tables in a Delphi 2006 Application (not limited to later versions of Delphi)

2. Getting locates to work on a non-key field with a SQL Server Table using filters A "simple" procedure that worked fine in BDE (use a TTable component attached to a table with a numeric primary key field, a string field not in the primary key, and a third field that's filtered on, use the .Locate() call to perform an incremental search on the string field) was failing using TADOTable and SQL Server. This article describes how I worked around the issue.

4. Scoping in ASP.NET (Delphi) Objects

Private and public variables on objects may not behave the way you'd expect, causing you to have to declare them more globally.

5. What do to when a fresh SQL Server 2005 install can't be accessed from the network

Have you installed SQL Server 2005, set all the right SQL Server settings, and still can't browse the server? If you're running XP Pro service pack 2 or later, you may have forgotten to fix this issue at the FIREWALL! (doh!)

(I had to use a local translator here at Prestwood to read this -- yes, we can be multi-lingual too!) Valdeci basically said: "Hello Joshua, would you be able to send me some project in Delphi 2006 (.NET)? I've been trying to create an application using a (database) server (Oracle, SQL Server, My SQL) and I haven't found anything that can help me. Thank you." I would recommend to Valdeci (and others) that you reference the very useful set of online tutorials that I first used (and built up my ongoing questions from) at: http://delphi.about.com/od/aspnet/a/aspnetcourse.htm It's called "A Beginner's Guide to ASP.NET Programming for Delphi developers", by Zarko Gajic It's very clear and straightforward, and encourages some experimentation if you're at all the curious type (my series of Knowledgebase articles here are based on my tangents-explored while following his tutorial as a "skeleton").
