1. RE: What could be opening this for
Hi Steve, Your simple suggestion solved the problem for me.  As it turned out, my Form-1 was not opening Form-3. Form-1 was pushing a button that opened Form-3. In any case, I think I now have the solution within view. All the best, and sincere thanks, Lothar

2. RE: access violation error
Hello, This has mostly to do with fact that Paradox is not completely compatible with Windows 7, and above. When do you run this problem having table on a machine with older version, it will work 99%. Suc6 Adam

New Stuff Since Your Last Visit 3. RE: What could be opening this for
it's in there, you just haven't found it :-) find the word "form", it has to come up in the VAR declarations.. then follow thru those pieces of code.. one of them will lead you to it..

10. Blob Binary Large Object Error
I have been having a tough time with BLOB (Binary Large Object) errors in memo fields of some large tables running on a Win2008 R2 Terminal server with just 3 users.  Any one else have experience with this? This is an app that has been running with support and modification for 25 years. It has been running on this server for close to 8 years. It is only accessed via a terminal server session, all activity in paradox is native to the server. I have had the tables get corrupted 7 or 8 times in the last three weeks.  I have seen this probably 3 or four times before in the last 8 years, but a rebuild of the tables has resolved it.  In the last three weeks, I have not been able to go more than a couple of days without corruption. I'll post more detail later, I wanted to get this up to see if others have experience with blob errors and figure out if this is the right Prestwood board to post it on as opposed to something specific to coding or tables. Thanks

13. Windows 10
Hi there For those of you still running Paradox I can tell you, that it runs very well on Windows 10. No errors and very fast and stable. No problems with BDE either. Only problem we have is using PDFCreator printing PDF directly in the code. But only in some cases. Need to check my code for this. No need to change for anything else due to new Windows version. Atleast we will stick to our Paradox solution as long as we can. Peter

15. Lock on Paradox Link to Spreadsheet
I have Paradox 11 and Corel X6 with Quattro Pro. Within the spreadsheet I have several links to Paradox tables. Something got corrupted and the system crashed, leaving me unable to open the spreadsheet, From another work station I was able to open the spreadsheet files and disable the links, which now allows me to open the spreadsheet. But whenever I try to re-establish the links the spreadsheet locks up. Otherwise, everything works fine. I have reinstalled Quattro Pro, Paradox and BDE but that didn't help. The work station has Win 7/64 and have tried to restore the OS to an earlier point but the restore utility fails. I'm guessing that I will need to get the HD reformatted and reinstall the OS. Before I make that leap, has anyone seen anything similar or have any thoughts on how to make the DB-spreadsheet links work again.

16. Paradox on Windows Server 2012
We migrated from using a run of the mill Windows XP box as a server to Windows Server 2012; one of the applications we use is a simple 3 table database which stopped working the moment the files were being accessed from the new server. We could see data but trying to add anything would result in a Lock Time Out error. I discovered that if I remove Referential Integrity from the detail table structure, and just assign it through the data model on the form, everything works. Would it be OK to leave it like that? or would it be somehow dangerous for the integrity of the data? Could the problem have come from some setting on the server? The person who installed the server for us doesn't think so but I'm not sure he is as familiar with Windows 2012 Server as I thought. For the time being I will be monitoring the data and checking that nothing is lost. Any suggestions? Thanks

17. too long file name, tables won't open
my problem of being unable to open tables because the file name is too long for a version 5 table - I've read in one of my texts that the later versions support long file names.  All I want to do is open the tables.  Since I've had no reply to a way to change the cumulative pathways, could there be another option?  Is there a way to change the tables from the earlier version that doesn't support long file names to my later version 11 Paradox.  Lacking a way to do this the  easy way (I couldn't find anything in the literature to do this, i.e. changing the table version), would it be possible to find out exactly the original paradox version of the table, copy the table to that version so it would open.  Then would there be a way to import the table data to a table constructed under the new version (the design duplicated from the table opened in the earlier non-long file name version).

19. Does Paradox Runtime SP3 contain a virus?
First off, I have been including the pdoxruntime9sp3setup.exe file with my database programs as my source for Paradox Runtime.  Is this the best file, or should I really be using something else? I have had a couple of users indicate that this file contains a virus (Trojan).  This was identified through AVG although I'm finding that Trend Micro also identifies a virus or at least remnants of one.  However checks using Symantec, McAfee and Kaspersky do not indicate any threats.  Can someone tell me if there actually is a virus or not?  I believe it is the AxDistEx.exe file that is in questions.  I have seen mention of this issue in one other post, but its not clear to me why some virus programs are picking this up and some are not.

20. Problems with printerSetCurrent
I am having problems using the printerSetCurrent() command, it works OK on a machine that I have admin rights on but it will not work on machines were the user does not admin rights, the program locks up when it executes the command. Can anyone confirm that the lack of admin rights is causing the problem and is there a work around? Thanks Bill
