Export table to spreadsheet
exportSpreadsheet Does anyone know of an alternative method to export data from a table to a spreadsheet? I am currently using this,   exportSpreadsheet ( const tableName String, const fileName String [ , const makeRowHeaders Logical ] ) Logical but it has some extreme limitations,  such as FONT control and the number of lines you can export.

Another approach is a free 3rd party (ancient) tool called Sportamok's Paradox dBase Reader (v2.2.0). When I'm sharing database files with non-Paradox users, that's what I suggest.

Search multiple Scripts
Howdy, Is there a way to search for something (a variable name, for example) across multiple scripts (and each section of those scripts, like run, var, proc, etc.)? In the ideal world, I'd like the output to be something like:    script1.ssl   proc   1732   the line of code with the search phrase I suppose I might have to write my own script to do it - but was hoping for something easier. (My big project has code split across several scripts because of the size limitations built-in to Paradox.) Thanks, David

Code to delete record's last character
Hello, This would seem pretty simple, but... I have some code that generates a CSV file that I then export to my phone. I need to tweak the code so that it looks at the last character of each record, and then deletes that character if it is a comma. Might you point me in the right direction to do that? I'm stumped. Sincere thanks, Lothar

Field text displays in REVERSE?
Howdy, I have a multipage form that has a significant amount of code on it. One of its fields has started to display its newly entered text in reverse order of the keystrokes. So if I type KEYSTROKES immediately after entering Edit mode what appears in the field is SEKORTSYEK. If I enter Edit mode, and pause for a few seconds before typing, all is well. I have no understanding about how to diagnose and correct this problem, so would welcome any help. All the best, Lothar

makeDir(varname) - or, how to convert var to const
I need to use a (string) variable as a parameter for makeDir, but it only accepts a constant as a parameter. For example: n = 1 while n <4    stVar = "dirname" + string(n)    makeDir(stVar) endwhile How to get around this...?   Thanks! -pt

No printers installed on the system?
Hello, I run PSP4 under Win 10. When I now try to print (with code, or manually), I get the error "No printers installed on the system." In fact, several printers are installed, and work properly from software other than Paradox. How can I get Paradox to see those printers again? Many thanks, Lothar

Problems with printerSetCurrent
I am having problems using the printerSetCurrent() command, it works OK on a machine that I have admin rights on but it will not work on machines were the user does not admin rights, the program locks up when it executes the command. Can anyone confirm that the lack of admin rights is causing the problem and is there a work around? Thanks Bill

I have the code, but where best to put it?
Hello, I have a few lines of code, but am confused about where to put it: I have a two fields on a form. One of these holds an email address, and the other a unique number identifying that email address. The process of getting and incrementing the unique number is handled with a tCursor that opens on a table that holds only that single number. The coding is simple, and works, but I have managed to get myself confused about where best to put it. Would it be best to create a "New Address" button to do the deed? Or would another location make more sense? Thanks for any assistance, Lothar

first.. you're making a "next number" table.. YES !!!! you have two choices.. trap for the INS key, or deny the INS key and use a button.. personally, I prefer the latter.. I always try to limit all the keypress stuff, and use buttons, for many reasons

Even I should know how to do this...!
Hi, I have this trivial code on the newValue event of a date field on a form: var,   tcTick tCursor, endVar If self.value = "",    then,       msgStop("Whew !" Tickles completed through   " + string (tickDate)), endIf It displays my msgStop dialog when it shouild, but when I clear that dialog, Paradox displays its "At end of table" announcement. I've experimented with no success, but can't figure out how to prevent the Paradox dialog for displaying. Might you assist? Many thanks, Lothar ,    , ,

Hi Steve, Your simple suggestion solved the problem for me.  As it turned out, my Form-1 was not opening Form-3. Form-1 was pushing a button that opened Form-3. In any case, I think I now have the solution within view. All the best, and sincere thanks, Lothar

Run scripts thru Windows tasks
Hi all, I am looking for help -- where I want to run a .ssl using windows task scheduler. I have the script and it works fine by running it manually - but if scheduled as task it's not running (I can see pdxwin32.exe in the task manager but it's not able to open the or run the script ). C:\Corel\Suite8\Programs\PDXWIN32.EXE -w D: -p C:\database\paradox\private -b SetupTable.ssl I want to know if this is possible or not - to run scripts using windows task when the user is not logged on. Thanks & Regards Lax

Hello everyone,, I'm attempting an executeSQL and I'm receiving the following error:, , An error was triggered in the 'executeSQL' method on an object of SQL type >>>, , Path not found., R:\Public\FSREQUESTS\FSFORMS\PARADOX.LCK, R:\Public\FSREQUESTS\FSFORMS\PDOXUSRS.LCK, , My forms reside in FSFORMS, but my table resides within FSREQUESTS\FSTABLES. no, Delphi has nothing directly to do with Paradox.. it's C+ based.. it came from Borland, back in the day, and it works well with Paradox tables and the BDE

printerSetCurrent() VERY slow
Hello All, I am using the printerSetCurrent() function to select the printer that I send reports to. This is great for generating labels or creating PDF files via a PDF "printer". Unfortunately, the printerSetCurrent() function is slow.  In the order of 5 to 10 seconds.   This is a real pain and affects the user experience greatly. Does anyone know of a way to speed this function up? Or is there another work around?  I tried changing the current default Windows printer via the Windows API functions, but once Paradox is running, that setting is happily ignored.   Any help would be appreciated.  Regards,      John,
