Missing Page Header in Subreports
Hey:, , I have a master report that contains independent subreports (that have no data relationship to the master report - the master report serves as a 'shell'). , , My problem is when the master report is previewed or printed, the page headers in the subreports do not appear. I'm baffled because while in design view, when I select the properties for a subreport's pageheader, the visible property is 'true', yet it does not show., , Anybody have this happen or know how to force the pageheader within a subreport to show?, , (How do I reference a subreport pageheader in using VBA from the master report code?), , Thanks!

I don't know what you mean by the subreports appearing on one page, however in the event that professional writers open up the subreports in a seperate window and go to print review, they appear fitting in agreement size and introduction as the primary report.

I guess you may use the query that was shared on Prestwood forum. Somewhere about queries. Rovena Gilbert and Derreck Torr (essay writers from the stuff) commented on the process of calculating the whole amount.

Combo Box won't update with specified value
As this is my first post to this board, I will try not to complicate this with unnecessary information. I am trying to set a combo box to a specific value (the name of a loan) using VBA for when the form opens. The combo box is populated with Loan Names from an Access table. Currently, I am using the following code to set the list index property (I have used this with excel vba before and it worked):   Combo_LoanName.ListIndex = 3  The problem is that when the form opens the combo box list is populated but no item is selected. I have tried other variations of the code above but to no avail. Can anyone spot what I may be missing?   Thanks, Craig

Reading Paradox tables from Access 2007
I have an Access application that imports data from Paradox tables in an existing, external application (Timeslips by Sage). App was originally written in Access 2003 and I was able to link to several Paradox tables and read them successfully (no update is required). We upgraded to Access 2007 and the existing Paradox links work just fine but I have been unable to create new read-only links to more of the Timeslips' Paradox tables. The new Import wizard assumes a read-write link and then fails with the error:      "Unexpected error from external database driver (11010)." Development is on a Windows7 64-bit machine and deployed to a WindowsXP machine (soon to be upgraded to Windows7). I've tried linking on both machines and NoGo. I've also tried searching the web for code that could handle this but to no avail. Any suggestions as to how I can accomplish this?  Thanks very much.,

Corrupt mdb file
I have an mdb file that appears to have some corruption.  I have run the "compact and repair database" utility several times.  This utility runs without reporting any problems.  However, there are about 5 forms of about 60 in the mdb file that, when modified cause MSAccess to crash.  I have also tried to start with a blank mdb file and cutting and pasting every form, table, query, report, from the old file to the new file and the same problem occurrs with the same forms. I am desperately hoping for some advice from somebody to hopefully help me save all the code that I have done and not have to build it again to get rid of the problems (it would really be a pain).  Thanks in advance.

Update text box field only on current row
I have an Access form set to continuous forms. I have an unbound text box on the detail row. When I set the text box to a value for that row, it is updated for all rows. Is there a way to change the value of a text box on only one specific row?

Not if it's unbound, you need to bind it to a field in the form's recordsource

Paradox to Access, Please Help
I am in the process of switching to Access 2002, I cannot for the life of me find out how to get Access to automatically fill in other fields when key field is entered into "many side" table. Paradox did this so easily by checking the "Applicable fields" in table lookup, but find no such command in Access, any help appreciated, Thanks.

    Setting Table paths
Hi,, , I am fairly new to Access programming. My background is in Paradox. I have to write an application however in Access that is going to be multi-user. I have already learned that I need to split the database., , My question is this: In Paradox we define 'aliases' to reference table paths so that I don't need to know in advance where the tables will reside as long as I set the alias for those tables on startup to poin to their location., , How do I do that in Access? Since I may not know a drive letter or even and UNC path when I begin - how do I reference the tables?, , Any help appreciated., , Jon

How get calculated field value on a form to write
I have a form which is bound to a table. On this form I have a calculated field. The calculation is the sum of two other field values. How can I get the value of the calculated field to write to a specific field in the table?

Answering for completeness... Don't do that with a calculated field. At least, it's much easier using an event such as changeValue or another event.

It sounds like you have it right.  Since the checklist can have multiple subsections which may or may not be the same you should break them into seperate tables.  You may want to consider an additional field if the order of the subsections in the checklist has any importance.

    Is this possible?
Here's what I'm trying to do, and I'd like to know if it's possible., , There is a form in an Outlook email that I will be getting frequently. In each form there are about 20 fields. Each of these emails is in a seperate folder. Is it possible to extract the data from the fields in the form in the email to populate my database. The difficult part is that each form is randomly placed in the senders email., , Does anyone know if this is possible?

Yes, this is definately possible. The easiest solution is to use VS.Net. You would start by downloading the MS Office development kit or find an Office developer. We have a few in our family of developers so we can help if you wish to take the outsourcing approach.

Replacing quotes with VBA in Access
I am downloading data from a web survey into a txt file that I then import into Access.  Users are inserting "quotes" in their comment fields.  I am cleaning up the comments in the txt file by reading them into variables and using the REPLACE function to remove jargon (e.g. &LF; is replaced withBig Grin!. That works fine, but I have tried to REPLACE the quotes with ^ or single quote but I can't get VBA to read the quotes. I have even used Chr(34) and it is not recognized.  How do I REPLACE quotes in substrings?

    Simple Copying Macro

Please help; it is something I desperately need for my job. Worried

Consider using a query to select the data you want.  Then make it an Append or  Make-Table query to create a temporary table or copy (append) your data into another table.

Passing Value From One Query to Another
Hi all! I'm new to this site, which I just happened to stumble upon. I have a question that is probably easy for a seasoned Access user. I have created a series of queries and have linked them in order to create a report consisting of current and prior year budget to actual totals. I am wondering how to pass values between queries - for example, user enters "6" - for month 6 - in query 1, how do I access this "6" as input for query 2?

Your first query becomes input for your second query.  Just drag and drop the field from the first query to your new query design.  It works like a charm.  When you execute the 2nd query, it automatically updates results from the 1st query for its input.  Hope this helps.

Adding data from VB into Access
I am writing a program with VB. It is connected to Microsoft Access so the user can add member details to the form and when they press save, the details are stored in the Database but I also need to create reports so the user can calculate their monthly takings. Does anyone have a basic way of doing this that I can easily adapt?, , Thanks
    10 years ago
    1 Reply:

    Don G
Use a query to calculate the takings and either combine the query with your member table to provide a summary of info or feed the query to a report.  Reports are prettier and can provide details as well as totals, but queries are quicker if you just need totals.
