We have an accounting table that has reached the one million seat. When we export this table to another program called contaplus we obtain an error "Seat number of accounting entry 1000001 is incorrect". we do not know how to start again with the accounting entry 1 or if there is a counter to zero this table ..., But the problem is that right now we do not have Paradox programmer. I can't upload images, a mistake comes up. Thanks in advanced!

too long file name, tables won't open
my problem of being unable to open tables because the file name is too long for a version 5 table - I've read in one of my texts that the later versions support long file names.  All I want to do is open the tables.  Since I've had no reply to a way to change the cumulative pathways, could there be another option?  Is there a way to change the tables from the earlier version that doesn't support long file names to my later version 11 Paradox.  Lacking a way to do this the  easy way (I couldn't find anything in the literature to do this, i.e. changing the table version), would it be possible to find out exactly the original paradox version of the table, copy the table to that version so it would open.  Then would there be a way to import the table data to a table constructed under the new version (the design duplicated from the table opened in the earlier non-long file name version).

Sorry, it took me a while to get back to you. In the mean time, I bought a new W10 computer and re-installed P11. The problem with the tablenames has been fixed now. Unfortunately, an other problem occured. But I will look for the right thread to see if I can find an answer. Thank you for your help!

Table Structure export
Hi all, I would like to know if there is any way I can export the structure of all the tables from paradox using script and save as .txt. Appreciate an early response.

I don't have a canned process for you, but you can do a fs.enumfilelist to get an array filled with table names, then enumfieldnames and enumindexstruct to get the details of the table.  then open those with a tcursor scan through the details and use a ts.writeline to write to the text file. I have done similar to document and manipulate the tables in a given directory.

Paradox Development
Hi Everyone, I am running Paradox 11 under windows 7/64.  When I put Windows 7/64 in I had no end of problems with software that would not run on it.  Fortunately, Paradox did.  My question is, "is anyone continuing to develop Paradox Win, other than Corel or is it's future compatibility dependent  on them.  As I understand it, there has been very little development work on Paradox since version 9.  What has been done is virtually tweaks.  Am I right?  Does anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

.NET Control File location setting
When I want to open the files on my server I get the message; "You have attempted to open a database that is in use by someone else, but data can't be shared. You must set the location for the .NET Control file." Of course the file is not in use by anyone else.  I appreciate knowing your suggestions/replies for how to set the .NET Control File location. Thanks

More than likely you have copied the .lck files along with the tables.  Delete the .lck files in the directory containing the table and you should be good to go.

table lookup restricting data entry
my thanks to dan fought in resolving my former problem with too long file names.  it worked great.  new issue found in resurrecting old files.  is there a way to use table lookups to speed data entry, but still allow a data entry person to enter a value not in the lookup table when they are using a data entry form (with a drop down box on it accessing the table lookup).

If you use the paradox object expert you can get some fairly good code to fill a combo box with values from a table.  The combo box does not have to be restricted to the values in the "Lookup Table'.  However, be cautious using this.  A large table can cause errors, since the size of the list is limited.  For ease of use I go to a pupup list in a custom form when the tables get too large.

After a stroke in 1998, I'm trying to use previously developed tables forms and reports, with a number of problems.  My use of Paradox started with the first version and progressed through the new versions until 1998.  My first problem is that using version 9 in trying to use tables original copied from earlier versions onto later versions, I'm getting a message "unable to open file name too long for a Paradox version 5 table".  My assessment is that in copying files between old and new computers new additions were made to the pathway to the directories and sub-directories and that was called the file name.  Is there a way to get rid of the old pathways?  i.e. is there change the file name some way to get rid of the problem?

Tcursors rounding number fields to 2 decimals
I have a number field in a table that stores gallons value up to 3 decimal places. I have placed a format on the field so it displays properly. When I open the table directly and look at the column and it shows the value rounded to 2 decimals however if I click in the field it will then show all 3 decimals so I know the actual value is being stored. The problem I am having is when I use a tcursor to open the table and try to get the value of that field it will only give me the rounded value and not the full 3 decimal place value. I need the full 3 decimal value so I can accurately use it for other calculations.  Help would be greatly appreciated.

Paradox 9 on Windows 7
I just installed (via CD) Paradox 9 on Win7. It loaded and it works fine with my files except for this problem: For some unknown reason I'm not able to use Paradox.pic file on any table. A message appears "/Paradox.pic was Not found" However, I did find this file in the Paradox directory. I re-installed the Paradox program a few times with no luck correcting this problem This feature on Paradox  9 works on Win98 and XP. Any Help would be great. Larry,

clicking on blob field erases content.
Database with 14K entries is back up to a corrupted database with loss of data. Repair shows no corruption. Working currently on Vista (Vista issues clear). Trying to open the blob files contents to rebuild the original deletes individual blob field contents permanently (leaving record and revisiting or closing file and reopening shows the records accessed without their stored objects). I keep hoping someone has an idea about this. it is most likely connected to the original issue of file corruption with disappearance of multiple blob entries. (about four hundred at last count). Exporting the file to a different folder and attempting to access the contents in the exported file = same results.,

Export to text
Has anyone come across this?  I'm using Paradox 9 in Windows XP and found that if I export a table to text and choose "Use field names as first row of data",  record #1 in the table is lost from the text file.  If I don't choose "Use field names as first row of data" then record #1 remains in the text file.  The obvious solution is to add a "dummy" entry #1 on the table before the export.,

Paradox Query Problems
Hello.  I have used Paradox since version 3.0 and in all versions since when I selected tables to query the query displayed the tables in reverse order from my selection. I loaded both Pdox 9 and 10 on Windows 7 and when I chose tables they displayed in an alpha sort order.  This definitely does not help me, are there any suggestions? If you see Wes please tell him that Ralph says hello. Thanks Ralph Maxwell

I don't believe it's computer specific.  You're probably referring to the problem that has been addressed here: http://www.prestwoodboards.com/ASPSuite/eBoard/Thread.asp?MBID=14312 Good luck!,
