I've been cleaning up behind folks for almost 30 years (sigh) when different query parameters on the same table sometimes work / sometimes fail, it usually just means the indexes for that table are hosed.. only a temporary show-stopper, once you know how to deal with it Alison said you called last night, I'll try to call you back this afternoon

if the path name is too long, doesn't matter which way you shorten it.. the printer name, you are best to actually be a shared printer, and shorten the network name

Hi Steven, I thank you for your suggestion and did try it. While experimenting, I stepped through the code, and found something odd, that allowed me to tweak it. With that, all worked well. So though I had success, I confounded the experiment, and I don't know which of the tweaks corrected things. In any case, as before, sincere thanks, Lothar

New Paradox User

Help!!!  I am a new Paradox user and I am not a programmer or a techie.  I've been working here for 6 months and have been able to figure out how to create basic forms and reports but I'm trying to find training or manuals that will get me to the next level.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

RE: Database Diagraming
look at the enum functions.. enumfilelist can give you a list of tables, then scan that list with enumfieldstruct to build a table of field names and properties enumfilelist can give you a list of forms or libraries, then scan that list with enumsource and build a table of your code an "org chart" of what calls what can be simple or complicated, depending on the complexities (or lack therof) of your app

ObjectPAL version incompatable...?
Howdy, I run Paradox 9, under Win 10. I made a minor edit to a particular report. Let's call it Report1. Typically, I print that report using code that is on the doubleclick of a field on an MRO on a form called Form1. Now, when I launch Form1, and doubleclick on the appropriate field in the MRO, I get the error: "The objectPAL version used in this form is incompatible with this version of Paradox. You must recompile from source." So, I opened the form in Edit mode, viewed the code on the field's doubleclick, saved it, and delivered it. Next, I did just that for Report1. I relaunched Paradox, and also rebooted the system, but still get the error. In addition, I can launch the report, and can print it manually, with no problem. How can I correct this error when trying to use the code to do the printing from Form1? Sincere thanks, Lothar

data threshold on reports?
My client closed a large amount of jobs in November and cannot generate reports. The error is '#Record_band is too big'. They are able to use the same report but for a different time period. For example, reports from Jan thru July work. Is there a setting we can change that will accommodate a larger dataset?  Thanks! Does not start any more (PDXWIN32.exe). Only see a fast Flash of Paradox Initial Screen. Uninstalled and Instaled again, but still does not start. Other apps from the Corel WordPerfect Package. start Ok , On another PC with Paradox 10 it works ok after the Creators Update., Has anybody this problem?

"Could not open query file" error
Hi. About 7 users use Paradox in a shared environment. Today we saw a new error which we are having trouble resolving. We have backups. When the user opens a *.qbe using Paradox 11 the error is  "Cannot open : WORK:Invoice_Jobs Closed THIS year.qbe". Could not open query file. The same error dialog box reads "Do you want to replace: WORK:Invoice_Jobs Closed THIS Year.qbe in the". That message is truncated.
  • What can cause this error?
  • What files are necessary to restore? It seems there is a related *.rsl file and *.db file
  • What is the reference to "WORK:filename)? There is no WORK in the actual file name.
  • Some users access this file using an older version of Paradox. Those users see a different message: "Record_Band is too big to fit in report".
  • We don't do much Paradox support and have been directed here in the past. Any clues would be appreciated. Thanks! Tim tim@greatdivideit.com

glad you figured it out.. a word of warning, tho.. in theory, one modified file does not necessarily require that you replace a whole folder.. you might be over-writing changed data that must be then replicated.. I would have replaced the qbe file only, at first

    Debugger NOT Debuggin' (It's Blank...)

    Hello,

I just entered a breakpoint in some code I have, but then, when I ran the code, the Debugger dialog launched, but it did not populate. It is completely blank.

I have no idea how to proceed (but I do have a large mallet at the ready.)

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Lothar

    Navigation buttons disabled
I recently upgraded from Paradox 7 to Paradox 11.0.0.676. On one of the forms, the navigation buttons are disabled, yet I am able to scroll through the records using the wheel mouse. Any ideas on what may cause the navigation buttons to be disabled? P.S. I am new to Paradox. Thanks, Gary

Dreaded "Report layout settings have changed" msg
Hello everybody, I hav a long running application of mine that has some reports (only landscape ones, as far as I can see) that have begun to show the dreaded message "Report layout settings (page size, paper orientation) have been changed"... Any hint on what can I do to make them behave properly again? I'm running PDX11 (X6 edition) and/or the latest Pdx Runtime 11... I've tried resetting the page size, both to printer specific page size (I'm in Italy so the standard page format is A4) and printer specific A4, to no avail. I've tried both the DynArray report.print and the ReportPrintInfo variant, they both do the same. I'm banging my head on the wall, but no idea seems to help! Thanks for any hint, Shores

    Mouse WHEEL Movement
In PDOX 8,  the mouse wheel had no impact on the paradox environment,  It just didn't work. Now in PDOX 11,  the mouse wheel is allowing users to scroll off of the record they should be Adding/Editing.  The user is then focused on a blank screen. Is there a way to trap that event?  I dont see any clues in the help doicument when it comes to scrolling mouse wheels. Currently I use the KeyPhysical event to prevent users from using the arrow keys to move from record to record,  but does not prevent the MOUSE action

    Does Paradox have macro substitution?
I need to use the contents of a parameter to pull a field's contents. Visual FoxPro uses the & character for that sort of thing. Is there a Paradox equivalent? Edit: Fount it - it's called dereferencing, eg  sField = "Name"   ;Assign a field name to the variable., view(tcCustomer.(sField));Dereference the variable using parentheses. from:  https://www.prestwoodboards.com/ASPSuite/KB/Document_View.asp?QID=101169
