  • I’m actually planning to do something very similar since one of my friends convinced me to do so, so I’d also greatly appreciate any advice that anyone has on this topic!

    SHORTCUT ICON
    Get rid of the boring default icon on your website.  Add a custom icon!  Most browsers support .ico and the most popular ones will show any standard web image.  Follow this easy step by step to add one to your web page or site. Example: This is Prestwood.com's icon.

    I am in the process of getting my MCITP 2008 Server admin certification. This is my second day of the boot camp 8 days all together. The bootcamp is held by CED Solutions. I have taken 1 other course with them my CCENT which I was successful at. CED Solutions is a very good training facility if you are a little rusty or just want to learn new things. SO if anyone is looking for some certs or training look CED Solutions up.

    CMS
    Short for Content Management Sytem (CMS) and is used to manage content on a website such as web page content, knowledge base, online store, message boards, etc. A popular .Net CMS' right now is DotNetNuke. Prestwood's own ASPSuite is a customized CMS we use for our website and our clients.

    Interesting. I had heard that some older browsers ignore it, but not that there is an alternate way of displaying it.  Since there are so many browsers, and open-source variants, I can't really answer that with a definite answer.

    Does this technique work for all browsers? I've always used a combo approach with "bookmark" too as follows:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico">

    <link rel="bookmark icon" href="/favicon.ico"> Is my technique outdated now

    Logos Should Use 1 Symbol Max
    Each logo you create should have at most one symbol. You can mess with the text is "textual" ways such as font, color, and minor tweaks, but if you include a "symbol", you should include only one symbol.

    I was also asked recently, why we no longer develop websites for 800x600 resolution. The reason is quite simply that according to w3schools.com, as of January 2008 86% of the web surfers are using a resolution of 1024x768 or higher.
