Thread 6 of 6 | Thread Starter or a Reply (but not last) | | | Group | brian p kim | Truncate all field lengths w/ OPALWhen one is adding records from one table to another in Interactive Paradox, and there exist fields in the souce table which are longer than the destination table, a dialog box asks if you want to continue., , I want to answer yes to all with OPAL. Is it possible? mprestwood | If possible, I would rather see you restructure the destination table so that it matches the source table. After the data is moved, you can do some analysis to see what length the fields should be and massage the data accordingly. You can even restructure the table back to the shorter lengthed fields.

Thread 3 of 6 | Thread Starter or a Reply (but not last) | | | Group | brian p kim | BDE and report designerI've been away. What's the latest on the BDE? Is there a prominently posted announcement somewhere which I have failed to see? I'll traipse over to borland.com and look, but thought someone here could help., , Been having problems with Corel Office Pro 9 and Paradox 9.00.883. Pardon my lack of specifics, I get errors or freezes when returning to design mode after previewing a report., , Something about a canvas. And when I quit Paradox, there's a kernel error. Since I have never seen anyone else mention this particular challenge, I'm willing to entertain the notion that my P III 450 MHz, 256 MB RAM, W98 SE machine is unique and persnickety., , I just put up with it. I had things to do, and didn't have time to "risk" a reinstall of Paradox, or a complete move up to W2K and all the subsequent reinstalls., , Thanks,, Brian rt | Rick's right about sticking it in the right place and when\if you do maybe you could add which, if any, service pack you are using. |

Thread 2 of 6 | Thread Starter or a Reply (but not last) | | | Group | brian p kim | Re: C++, Java and Simple StuffThanks Scott., , Guess it's difficult to write self-contained programs nowadays. I'm mainly trying to avoid changing the user's PC. Which assumes I can know what is already on the user's PC. And that appears to be pretty slippery., , Looks like I'll have to focus on *.bat and *.cmd. Or maybe JavaScript in a *.htm. I'm not a fan of Visual Basic. Makes me feel too dependant., , I seem to spend a lot of time with file management. I was hoping to carry plain text routines around with me on 3-1/2" disks. Like Paradox scripts. Or Perl programs., , Perl seems most attractive to me. It seems to hold much promise for easing the pain many of my mundane tasks. But in the Windows world, doesn't seem like many admin types "need" it., , Guess I'll keep looking ...., , Thanks again., Brian |

Thread 1 of 6 | Thread Starter or a Reply (but not last) | | | Group | Brian Sheasby | Paradox 9 into PDF formatI have created a form from a basic query, which shows the amount of stock we hold in place against a number of different products.I need to email my customer this form in such a way that he can fill in call off quantities and email it back to me. Problem is, he doesn't have Paradox, so I have printed this Paradox form as a PDF then added PDF boxes to it. It's very long winded. Is there any way to send my Paradox form so that all the features of the form function outside of the Paradox environment? |
