Get yourself along to http://wubi-installer.org/ and (slowly!) download this goodie Surprised it is a sooopper delux easy Linux installation of Ubuntu v8.? which installs under Windows in a 15 GB partition on your hard disk AND the selling point is that it is uninstallable by Windows as well Cool

So unlike other installations when eirther Windows or (dare I say it) even Linux falls over   the whole system does not crash - and that of course goes for uninstalling one or the other systems as well since generally then you end up with neither

Now as I see it, the great difference betwen this and other dual boot installations is that besides the painless installation operation itself you do not have to go through all that messing about about formating the hard drive for the two operating systems only to find it doesn't work anyway

If you are going to take this seriously then remember my earlier comments that you must use FAT32 instead of NTFS for HD formatting then both operating systems can access the data\files etc.

When installed this fires up with the jolly old Grub menu offering Windows or Linux and then its a case of take your pick...... on this particular very old box with FAT 32 and innumerable hard drives\partions every one of 'em was found straight off (unlike some LInux installations) as was the internet.... oh joy!

Give it a go and lets hear what you think........... personally I think it's damn near 6pm here which signals a glass of vino to cellibrate

Thats enough of that. Ed.

Nice. I'll give it 4 out of 4 coffee cups!

Anyway, I"ll check it out when I can. I also want to check out the linux installation that installs onto a thumb drive. That sounds interesting too.

You've got to change those coffee cups into wine glasses

I think the small distro you want for the memory stick thing is Puppy Linux .

Thats enough of that. Ed.
