Fields name ???

Fields name ??? in Delphi Single User Apps topic (part of our Pascal and Delphi Coding group).

Hi all,
you know when we named fields in the DB files it must be onw words ... like FName, LName or First_Name ... but if I want to put the fileds name in a ComboBox .. but I want it to appear like that First Name or Last Name ..... how can I do it ???
I hope you got what I mean Big Grin!

Thanx for your replying ... I know that works in DBGrid ..... but I need it in ComboBox to select the field then search in edit text.
any idea ???

Have you tried opening up the Field Editor on the TTable/TQuery, selecting the field in question, and assigning the DisplayLabel property the text that you want to appear in the control? That works for TDBGrids.

Well, here's hoping that you assign a value to the DisplayLabel property for the fields you're talking about.

Then, at run time, if you are trying to populate a ComboBox with the names of fields from a particular table, add them like this:



ComboBox1.Items.Add(Table1.FieldByName('FName').DisplayLabel);
ComboBox1.Items.Add(Table1.FieldByName('LName').DisplayLabel);
etc.
