Are you talking about hiding your application from the task list? If so, use the SetWindowLong procedure to change the application type from application window to a tool window.

Here's some code:
program Project1;

uses
Forms,
Unit1 in 'Unit1.pas' {Form1},
Windows;

{$R *.RES}

//Declare a var to retrieve current window information
var
ExtendedStyle : Integer;

begin
Application.Initialize;

//Get the Extended Styles of the Application, by passing its
//handle to GetWindowLong
ExtendedStyle := GetWindowLong(Application.Handle, GWL_EXSTYLE);

//Now, set the Extended Style by doing a bit masking operation.
//OR in the WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW bit, and AND out the WS_EXAPPWINDOW bit
//This effectively converts the application from an App Windows to a
//Tool Window.
SetWindowLong(Application.Handle, GWL_EXSTYLE, ExtendedStyle OR WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW
AND NOT WS_EX_APPWINDOW);
Application.CreateForm(TForm1, Form1);
Application.Run;
end.

You can download the following file "LMD-Tools SE v.6.10.12" from here

http://www.torry.net/huge.htm

They are freeware so cost nothing and are highly useful. One of these components is called LMDTrayIcon and placing this on your main form will place an icon for the program into your system tray. For linking it to a menu, link a popup menu to the LMDTrayIcon and use the corresponding event handlers (in your object inspector).

Now, how to add an icon to the list to the right of the task list? And how to make something happen if a popupmenu is opened, and then closed without any choise made?

No book for me, just bought jedi knight 2.
And I don't want to spend lots of money on a book saying how to put things on the form.
So, this is the best option. You get only the help you need and it's for free.

sorry to sound rude , but some of your questions sound like you need to invest in a good delphi tutorial , there are some good sites online where you can learn about all the basics , but if you have the money you cant beat a book on the subject.
good luck.
