file name too long

file name too long in Paradox Forms topic (part of our Corel Paradox / ObjectPAL Coding group).

Quick Search: file name   file name too
Actually i have 2 questions:
1.) I moved a folder containing all of the files for my application to a different location with a much longer pathname (now 84 characters)- I am using W2K and Paradox 10 and now I keep getting an "invalid pathname error" This goes away if I remove my lookups. If i try to recreate the lookups I get the message "filename too long for Paradox 5 format" when i try to save.
Is there a problem with the program or is this a limitation with the program and they simply never updated the error messages? i have checked and my tables including the lookups are Paradox 7-10 format. Any thoughts?

2.) Why is it that when my forms open even it have it so they should maximize the window is never the correct size so you can easily access the max/min/close window icons in the upper right corner.

To answer your first question, yes this is a problem. Long path names can cause grief even with the later formats. However, sometimes if you use table repair to update the version of the table, it still is a Paradox 5 format table.

If you wish to check this, resturcture the table and create a dummy index on any field in "Descending Order". This will force the table into the latest format. You can delete the index afterward and the table will remain the new format.

If you still have the problem, you will have no choice but to shorten the path name.

As far as question two, I'm quite sure what you're asking. There are multiple method in maximize the form, width, height, and best fit.

best of luck
