SQL with SQL CE Ver 4
Hi all I am having a problem with a program i have been working on and I have been filtering a database by date and client to produce records for a DBChar and it all works fine and as it should . As the record number grows thought I should perhaps use an sql query insted of filter and do you think I can get it to work I have a SDF Database called CounterData. I have a field in the database counterDate which is a datetime field  and I have two datetimepickers one startdate and one enddate. I not strong on sql and can usually make it do what I want but not with dates. have tried many variants of this select  * from counterdata where countertranstype ='+quotedstr('D')+'and CounterDate >='+datetostr(startdate.date) +'and counterDate <='+datetostr(enddate.date). I am using the Devart Sdac components to connect to the SDF Database Thanks for any help Owen Moore

Database Desktop on Windows 10
I've been using Database Desktop for years to maintain Paradox tables in a Delphi development environment, but it now appears that DBD doesn't work on Windows 10 for build 1703 or later.  Is there an updated DBD that does work?  Or is there an alternative tool I can use?  I've found several tools that will let me view and modify the data in Paradox tables, but none that will let me modify the table structures.  Any suggestions?  I don't have Paradox for Windows, only Delphi.

Calculated fields
Could someone help with explaining with an example ot two the basics of entering code to get calculated fields to work. Looking through what examples I can find, if I use this code -, , Begin, table1FieldZ.value := table1FieldX.value * table1FieldY;, End;, , I get a message 'undeclared identifier table1FieldX' is because I have not declared something? It's very hard to work these things out when many of the so called help pages only give "the" line of code and miss out all the other stuff., , Also I can find examples to put a calculated field into a grid, but what do I have to do to display a calculated field in a box?, Thanks, Tom. Confused

Findfirst File extensions oddity?
Can anybody please explain why Findfirst, when searching for *.htm will also find .html etc. and what please is the workaround. Was this designed for dos only when there were only three letters?, The real problem is that many web sites include duplicate files one for each of the extensions. Passing the output of Findfirst to a Stringlist with duplicates trapped will not of course solve the problem., Hopefully thanks., Don Roll Eyes

Making a spectrogram
I have written a program that does soundanalyses with a FFT-function. To view the data I want to display it in a spectrogram. The method I have applied now is drawing the frequencies on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis. The amplitude of the signal is displayed using different colors. To draw the colors on the bitmap I currently use the Pixel function of the Canvas, but this goes really slow., , My question is : Is there another, faster method to draw colors on the bitmap; keeping in mind that every pixel could have another color?

INI file problem
Hi,, Does anyone know how to make a program process every setting in an ini file?, , I have 2 problem settings in my program that can't seem to process the results from the ini file, one is "Always on top" and the other is "minimize to tray". My program can save the settings with no problems but when I run the program and it reads the ini file, if both settings are set to true the program only seems to process one of them., , My guess is because both settings relate to window functions. I tried Application.ProcessMessage but that didn't fix the problem., , Any help or suggestions would be appreciated., , Merlin

these settings are process at application creation and cannot be set from ini file. They have already been set by the time the file is read and cannot be changed by then. --- Dave

ComboBox Text won't clear.
Hi there,, , Does anyone know how to clear the text dispplayed in a combo box? Mine just holds the last value and doesn't overwrite it when I tab back to it ideally I want it cleared and ready for the next entry. , , I've tried setting .Text := ''; but it doesn't work even if I set it to '1'; it doesn't display a 1 only the previous value. The whole text line seems to be higlighted rather than just the text. Any ideas?, , Thanks, Mully
