MilFlyer, Beware the export limit.  Exporting to the xls format from Paradox will only export the first 16,384 records in a table. If you want to private message me your email.   I have a library that will dump the tables to excel for you.

Could not open Paradox.net
One of our users got a new pc this week.  He has some Excel pivot tables that are reading data from Paradox tables via an odbc connection.  Every time he tries to refresh the data, he gets an error message saying 'Could not open Paradox.net'.  From what I understand, Paradox.net is the DOS version of pdoxusrs.net.  I had the user send me the Excel file and the table it was trying to access and it worked fine for me after setting up the alias that he initially used when he built this pivot table. I had the user search his hard drive for a file called Paradox.net, and one did not exist.  Does anyone have any idea why it would be looking for this file? Thanks, Doug

String search and match with ()
Hi all, I have been trying to solve this one for a while without success. I receive pricelists from distributors that I convert to PDox9 tables, then perform searches for Product IDs to modify my internal table. All works perfectly well, except for the times when the Alpha field I am searching contains a parenthesis " ( or ) " . In this case the search is unable to match the record. I do not see this problem with fields containing  # /.  - = etc. I am using advancedWildcardsInLocate(Yes) for the session. Any way around this? I am unable to change the fields as they are manufacturer product IDs. Thanks in advance, Grant

Please ignore. I ended up solving it after adding the advancedWildcardsInLocate(Yes), and then changing from locatePattern() to simply locate(). I probably made the change prior for some reason haha. Grant

Paradox 10 hanging since upgrade to Windows 10
Hi, Has anyone managed to get Paradox 10 working satisfactorily on Windows 10? Care to share your setup please? We upgraded to Windows 10 last week and since then Paradix hangs 4-5 times a day. We manage to get it going again by having everyone log off and deleting all the lock files but it's getting a but frustrating. We have our data in a shared folder and everyone is pointing to the same .NET file. I've tried every suggestion I've seen here and elsewhere with no luck so far. Any tips, pointers, suggestions gratefully received.  Thanks  Delordson

Chimney Sweep.. but for most folks, I say that you don't want an automated routine cuz it makes it more likely that you won't actually look at the results after the repair.. REAL damage will show easily, via bad number and date values and/or missing records

Opening A Form
I am absolutely brand new to programming in Paradox. I want to make a Main form. For ease of discussion, I just want to create a form which I have done that has one button. I want it to opne a form I already have linked to a table. I get a syntax error. I cannot find any build as you go coder. I have this and it gives me a syntax error: method action(var eventInfo ActionEvent), open("TestReview Form"), endMethod The form is in the same working folder as this Main form. Does anyone know what the syntax is to simply open a form? No parms passed, just open the form in data entry mode.

first, that code should be on the pushbutton event.. I should have noticed that you put it somplace else second, what is your intended interaction with WP and or QP? third, any modern database platform will usually be SQL-based.. can't make any specific recommendations beyond that

Hello Prestwood,

I

Hello Prestwood, I am once again asking for your support.  During the coronavirus lockdown I decided it was a good time to simplify my reports. One of the challenges I face is a set of 2d bar graphs I have created from a table.  Note my X axis data points will vary greatly: I believe I have run into a glitch I will not be able to fix.  The X axis 'ticks' keep counting but the data isnt showing up. If i play around resizing the graph in design, it may or may not fix it. I would like to sort this out so I do not have to manually involve myself further. I uploaded an image of my issue to imgur https://imgur.com/a/uWrA9rC  (imgur is a safe site, with many photos of cats) THANK YOU

Paradox on Windows 10 Locking Up
I have a customer that insists on continuing to use Paradox. We have the files stored on a file server that has a share that is mapped to all users workstations as a drive. It has been working fine for years. Recently, we migrated the server to from 2008 R2 to 2016. We now have users complaining about the application locking up especially if inactive for a while. I'm wondering if anyone has an ideas to prevent this from happening? Thanks, Jeff

if you have libraries and/or other compiled pieces (fdl, rdl, sdl), you need to open each one and compile, then save.. the libraries first, then all the other pieces

Database Desktop on Windows 10
I've been using Database Desktop for years to maintain Paradox tables, but it now appears that DBD doesn't work on Windows 10 for build 1703 or later.  Is there an updated DBD that does work?  Or is there an alternative tool I can use?  I've found several tools that will let me view and modify the data in Paradox tables, but none that will let me modify the table structures.  Any suggestions?

Win 10 and Installation Issue
We need to upgrade some machines from Win 7 to Win 10, and they need to be able to run Paradox 8.

We define large databases as greater than 500,000. We have a number of our own databases with more than 10 million records. We run client databases in 600-700 thousand segments. All code runs 4-5 times slower. Regards, Rich

Does Paradox support connecting to 3rd party or custom ODBC data sources? I have one installed, see it in the BDE Administrator, but can't find where I can connect to it from within Paradox.

I got it fixed. I am setting up a new computer and it was working on my old machine so I looked through and compared the registries and found where the ODBC listing shoud be and exported (the one I needed) from the old machine and merged into the new. Here's the location: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Borland\Database Engine\Settings\DRIVERS ... Thanks for your ideas and time fellas. Best.

Thanks so much, Rum! I took your code and refined it to my purposed.  No arrays for me, so I was able to simplify it, and in the end it wound up working better than I actually had planned!  (Was able to sort just by selecting the drop-down menu item, didn't need a separate button, like I thought I would) This worked very well, and I thank you. Paradox 11 not printing to network printers
I have just re-installed my Paradox 11 on a Windowsx64 laptop and I cannot get it to print reports from Paradox reports themselves. However, they work perfectly if I call them up from a form in objectPAL. When I just try to print in a new Paradox sessionm I get a dialogue box that says: Printer interface setup error/ LCAppPrint Initialize failed!  Then Windows 10 just closes the program. I'm not all that good with finding out where my problem lies. Could anyone point me to some solution, please? Tony

Back after yeeaars in the wilderness. I've tried this again and get the same result. I can print a report if I do it through and objectPAL script. Load the report and print. But if I just open the report, I get the same result and Paradox closes. Also, I can't print things like info structure. Paradox just falls over.

    Printer Driver Settings
We have  been running Paradox 11 on Windows 7 for awhile. We have bought new Windows 10 pc‘s and are going through the configuration process. We have a Konica C658 printer. We are running into an issue where Paradox will not pick up the default printer preferences. For example, in the printer driver we have set Paper size = 14.5 x 11 Orientation = Portrait Print Type = 1-Sided Staple = Left Corner But when you print from Paradox, for example instead of Print Type = 1-Sided, we are getting 2-Sided. I know I can set some of these settings via code(I don‘t believe I can set it to staple). But I‘d rather not go back and change this on every form where I print reports. Has anyone run into issues with Paradox not picking up the printer preferences that are set on the printer driver? Oall other apps, such as the Microsoft Office apps, work fine. Thanks, Gary

I have not used that funtion in many years.. my first guess is that it doesn't understand the file type.. remember, this is 25 year old technology, based on simple bmp logic
