Thread 24 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | PMartins | Database Pros and ConsWe have hit problems using Access 97 as a front end to our contacts database. The limitations are in the functionality within the constructed interface, not an issue such as too many records (Although speed is also an issue here). We are therefore looking to other types of front-ends to replace Access. , Could anyone provide any relative Pros and Cons to using... , , Access 2000 , FoxPro , Oracle Forms , VB6 , HTML + ASP , C++ , J++ , Delphi , , .. to construct the front-end interface. Any pointers would be gratefully received! , , Thanks, , Paul 7 replies. Last post: | Scott | {Too Long!} |

Thread 23 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | andreazc | sql query to MS Access from JavaHi, I am trying to send SQL queries to MS Access 97 using Java but I only seem to get any response if I have a simple query of the form SELECT * FROM CUSTOMERS., , If I want to send something just slightly more complicated then it doesn't work, for example SELECT SURNAME FROM CUSTOMERS., , The code that I am using is:, Statement stmt = dbCon.createStatement ();, ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery (sqlStatement); //error occurs here, ResultSetMetaData rsmd = rs.getMetaData();, , Is there a particular format that Access needs when sending a query or is this a problem with it?, , Thanks, Andrea 5 replies. Last post: | andreazc | Thank you for the suggestion, the problem is now resolved., , For your information (and anyone else who reads this) the actual problem was caused by a corrupt ODBC driver as discovered when I reinstalled Office and the problem disappeared!!!, , Cheers |

Thread 16 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | andyhud | Calling SQL Server 7 Stored Procedures from C++I am having trouble calling a SQL Server 7.0 Stored Procedure from C++ that returns a recordset and an output parameter., , Here's the criteria - I wish to bind parameters at run time and I need to return an output parameter. Presumably, I need to use rs.Open not execute in order to get the recordset - the problem is that I don't get the output parameters if I am opening the recordset., The stored procedure may change so I don't really want to implement a static wrapper for it., I have tried to implement this with ADO, MFC DAO and MFC ODBC support classes., , A sample piece of code that does exactly what I need would be ideal... 3 replies. Thread 5 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | essystem | Is InterBase The Best Choice ?I develop system for stores still in CLipper 5.3 I will change to Delphi. Is the InterBase the best choice for use in customers that will not pay for traditional products as SQLServer and others ? My system handle 20 to 2000 register in terms of sells and 50 to 5000 registers in terms of selled products a day. If IB is not the best choice what should i use ?, Thank You ! |

Thread 3 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | rreiss | Incompatibility with DATE type in Paradox and CreaI recently tried to create a new table using Corel Paradox 10. I chose INTERBASE (using the free Interbase 6 download)for the table type. One table was easily created, but a second table, where I chose DATE for the date field created an error, telling me that Interbase was using TIMESTAMP. Unfortunately, TIMESTAMP is not a choice on the field type dropdown dialogue. Going the otherway and using Interbase SQL, I could create a table with a DATE datetype, but Paradox wouldn't let me add it to the datamodel on a form. Any ideas how to get around this problem?, Would I still have the problem with the Corel Linux version and Interbase for FreeBSD/Linux? (I have Corel Office for Linux on order). |

Thread 2 of 25 | Thread Starter | | | Sancraian Marius | Update clients dataI have two clients conected to the same database. When a client update a record in a table, I don't know how to update the records for the other client (the client must refresh the data to update the records). How can I do this automatically?, Thanks in advance. 1 Reply: | Simon Wood | The only way that client 2 can see the changes client 1 has made is for client 2 to issue another select. You cannot force InterBase to refresh a client ! |
