 Paulo.C | Paradox using JSONHello,
I develop software in Corel Paradox 18 years for driving schools.
At this time in Portugal, the practical lessons are recorded through a tablet where it controls the time and kilometers travelled, and this data is made available by the software manufacturer who registers these lessons in JSON.
Now I need to integrate the records of practical lessons with my Paradox database.
I've spent hours trying to find some information, but without success.
Today I found your internet page, and how you have experience in JSON and you know the Paradox well. I write to you in the hope of helping me with some information or idea.
1 Reply: | Steven.G | yes, we know Paradox well.. I am not sure if any of the Paradox folks here are familiar with JSON, too.. me, no
and, of course, we know nothing about your app and/or your requirements
what does the source data look like, and wht import problems are you having?

GTECH | Migrating to Windows Server2008Been using paradox ocx as web server for over 10 yrs on server with windows server 2003(?). Recently purchased new server. Have Windows Server 2008 on it. Migrated entire data and web info from old to new. Cleaned up and tested all web pages on new server using localhost. localhost:8081 hits paradox ocx and creates web pages perfectly.
Now trying to webname:8081 to hit paradox and not working. Probably bad description, I'm no good on the server side.
Any ideas. Why does local host see the 8081 port in the ocx but not the webname:8081?

simd01 | Corel Web Server LimitationsHi, I am a Paradox developer from way back (1985 in fact) and have never really touched on the Web Server OCX much.
I am wondering if anyone is using this program to any great effect and what if any problems you see with it. Pardon my ignorance here but does the activex server cope with XML, CSS and XForms?
I am particularly concerned about security of using the server -i.e. can it be locked down tightly enough for real-world apps?

abp | SFTPHas anyone utilized Paradox to post files to a SFTP site?
Are you doing it directly thru Paradox or thru a 3rd party app? and if so, what's the app?
Thanks in advance for any help!,
1 Reply: | mprestwood | Hi Beth,
You can do this through a DLL. We've written a few DLLs in Delphi over the years for our Paradox clients for FTP but those DLLs all were implementation specific. We could write one for you but there are so many free ones out there you should probably just download one. Maybe someone else can recommend a specific one.

Last post: | mprestwood | Every programmer you talk to will have a different opinion as to which language and tool you should use to do this task. ASP and PHP are easy to learn scripting languages. You'll have to use a Paradox ODBC driver to access your Paradox data. Also, you'll have to secure your server properly through a firewall so only the data you wish to surface on the web is accessible. |

jazzkeys | Can't find jPdox Web Utilities (.pdf)...Howdy, y'all; finally acquired a copy of Mike's P9PP. Gonna reverse engineer a Pdox4 database, at least a few new kludged features by using the Web server OCX and a few HTML forms.
Currently reading ch. 25 wherein Mike recommends reading "jPdox Web Utilities," a PDF doc that's included in the Reference Center. However, can't find it anywhere on my CD. I'd be obliged if someone would send it by e-mail to jazzbaritone@yahoo.com so that I too can whip up browser-enabled Pdox apps.
Thanks kindly, and happy holidays.

If you see anything else, let me know.

The Big Jerm | Paradox Web ServerMy understanding is that Paradox 9 has a webserver built into it. It is a form called server.fsl or something. Here is my question: We only have paradox 10, if I could get my hands on the files in the :wssample: directory ( or whatever it is) Could I run those in Pdox 10? Would it work?, , Thanks Jeremy

That stuff along with my Paradox 9 Power Programming book were the reasons to spend the extra money for the developer edition.

1 Reply: | Tony.M80 | You cannot 'upload' files to Paradox/ocx., , You need a separate 'utility'. I use a perl script; any request to upload a file is sent to that perl script. |

Brian Sheasby | Paradox 9 into PDF formatI have created a form from a basic query, which shows the amount of stock we hold in place against a number of different products.I need to email my customer this form in such a way that he can fill in call off quantities and email it back to me. Problem is, he doesn't have Paradox, so I have printed this Paradox form as a PDF then added PDF boxes to it. It's very long winded. Is there any way to send my Paradox form so that all the features of the form function outside of the Paradox environment? |

It is direct Paradox to Paradox communication., , JSI plugs into your existing apps with a couple of simple OPAL commands., , Visit http://www.thedbaddons.com/jsip for information. 1 Reply: | deleted_member | Oh. Forgot to include..., , Those computers sharing data can be anywhere in the world as long as they can be connected to the Internet., , And the data they transmit is encrypted (128bit) |

rb | Chaining into DBI am a novice programmer looking to access a Paradox DB from my website. The server is the web hoster Brinkster. I believe that I can work thru the manipulation of the database with Paradox's syntax(back end stuff), but I am having difficulty in actually chaining into the DB from my site.(ODBC????) Is the process at all similar to Access and SQL, where you establish a connection with a driver and DSN??, , Thanks for any help. |
