Paradox Report (.rsl) to Crystal Reports (.rpt) ?
I am beginning to get more comfortable using Crystal Reports 11, which has a similar feel to Paradox's built-in Report designer. My question is, does anyone know of software to convert simple reports created in Paradox (without any extra programming) into Crystal Reports format?  I just want the basics (groups, breaks, detail field placement and alignments, format, etc.) to copy over. Thanks!

Time to move on...
I'm putting out some feelers with all of you, my long time Paradox colleagues, whom have loved Paradox for these many years, but feel that maybe it's time to start the long anticipated migration out of Paradox. At this time I have absolutely no idea as to what I'd like to move to.  We have a legacy product all built in Paradox 10 and primarily using Windows XP at this time.  I'm entertaining the idea of developing  in Windows 7 as there's a ticking time bomb on the availability of XP. Can any of you recommend different software development environments/languages that should be looked at?  Ease of migration is one factor, but not the decision maker. I appreciate any help you can provide!  Thanks as always! Beth,

Any demo databases available for Pdx convert?
I'm an MS Access developer who's trying to learn Paradox. Does anyone have or know of a freely available working database that I could look at just to see how Paradox and ObjectPAL work together in an application., , I can read about in Paradox 9 Power Programming, but it really helps to have working application to look at and dissect. , , Thanks for any help you can give me,, , Herbert Sitz, hsitz@nwlink.com

Open Paradox9 form in Paradox10
Hi, I would not be the first to request some help to migrate from P9 to P10. I have some forms, created with P9 with a bipmap on each... I try to open with P10, and I get a error "Error while reading the disk" (french-to-english). I know that I can fix this by opening forms in P9 and removing all bipmap object. But it will take a long time. Any other solution are welcome.

OK.. first, I suggest that you check Bertil's bug list site.. if it's a known bug or issue, it'll be there.. http://hem.bredband.net/bertilisberg/ if that doesn't help, the next thing is to get somebody else to try the form and associated pieces on their p10, to confirm that it really is p10 (or a particular SP of p10) that's the problem..

Paradox 11 app conversion
Hello All;, , I have an application (exe) that I developed in Paradox 9. I just upgraded to Paradox 11 and the application no longer runs. It appears that the application framework is missing. How can I convert my Paradox 9 app to Paradox 11? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks., , Nick Manuzzi

Hi Nick,, , I'll jump in and second Steve's suggestion. The fact is the framework was removed in Paradox 10. So, if it was me, I would just leave the application in Paradox 9 until you can redevelop it in Delphi or DotNet.
The dborn value is correct.
Maybe so, but Montana asked you what data type the variable is, and you never answered., , You could also try, in the BDE Configuration, setting FOURDIGITYEAR to "True" and "YearBiased" to "False," just to see if it helps.

Paradox 5 to Paradox 9 conversion with DLLs

I'm sure this isn't related to the P9 patches. It's most likely something with the DLLs. Did you write the 32-bit DLLs? Are you still having this problem?

Pdox to Access VBA conversion :(
Hi!, , Unfortunately, we've had to leave our beloved Paradox behind when the gods deemed Windows 2000 was coming & IS would no longer support our paradox. Does anyone know of any documentation on comparable scripts between the two? I cannot even search for something similar to XTRIM in Access's help database - it's so frustrating! Any guidance on documentation would be greatly appreciated - thanks Confused

Paradox to Access, Please Help
Confused I am in the process of switching to Access 2002, I cannot for the life of me find out how to get Access to automatically fill in other fields when key field is entered into "many side" table. Paradox did this so easily by checking the "Applicable fields" in table lookup, but find no such command in Access, any help appreciated, Thanks.

This is why I use Paradox. I couldn't get Access to do this no matter what I tried, and it was essential to my application., , That said, I do think this is a question for an Access forum!

Paradox 9 vs Access 97
I need some help/advise. As I stated in my earlier post, I use Paradox 7 mostly for querying. I want to upgrade to version 9, however the braintrusts in our IT department have told me that Access is the company standard. I need a good reason, other than being more comfortable with Paradox, to choose it over Access., , Thanks in advance.

No, I'm afraid there isn't. The event models between the two are similar, but different enough that a conversion tool isn't entirely probable., , I suggested such a thing to Dan Alder (the current PDM at CORL for Paradox, et al) and received a very chilly reply. I wouldn't expect to see such a thing soon., , Sorry..., , -- f
