RE: {Too Long}
First of all it isn't a good idea to use a workstation as a file server.  That being said your problem is with the BDE netdir path.  It must be identical for all pc's using the database.  Even if the path points to the same location, the BDE will treat them as being totally different netdirs because the path is different.  Therefor the server must have identical mapped drives as the other two PC's.

Have you tried the preferences dialog on the tools tab.  The Database tab has an option to change the location of the priv dir.

If you test the field object value you will find that isBlank() will work as you expect.  iif(isBlank(YourFormObjectName),"This is Blank",[YourTableFieldValue])

One of my clients running a programme of mine based on Paradox is asking for it to be installed on a Tablet.  I have no experience with this hardware, so is this possible? Many Thanks,

I have one client that has paradox installed and running on a win tablet running win 8 pro.  There are a couple of virtual machines in the works to run windows native applications on IOS and Android.  Another option would be to connect to your desktop pc using one of the RDP applications available for android or IOS.

.NET Control File location setting
When I want to open the files on my server I get the message; "You have attempted to open a database that is in use by someone else, but data can't be shared. You must set the location for the .NET Control file." Of course the file is not in use by anyone else.  I appreciate knowing your suggestions/replies for how to set the .NET Control File location. Thanks

More than likely you have copied the .lck files along with the tables.  Delete the .lck files in the directory containing the table and you should be good to go.

table lookup restricting data entry
my thanks to dan fought in resolving my former problem with too long file names.  it worked great.  new issue found in resurrecting old files.  is there a way to use table lookups to speed data entry, but still allow a data entry person to enter a value not in the lookup table when they are using a data entry form (with a drop down box on it accessing the table lookup).

If you use the paradox object expert you can get some fairly good code to fill a combo box with values from a table.  The combo box does not have to be restricted to the values in the "Lookup Table'.  However, be cautious using this.  A large table can cause errors, since the size of the list is limited.  For ease of use I go to a pupup list in a custom form when the tables get too large.

RE: too long file name, tables won...
The tool to use is the TableRepair utility.  This is available on the tools menu.  You will need to copy the tables into a directory where the directory path will meet the short file name and then use the table repair utilty to set the Table version to Paradox 7.  You should then be able to open the tables using longer names.

RE: How to do a FULL JOIN in SQL ...
Can we please get the exact error message that you are getting.  That may give us some idea of what exactly your problem is.  Paradox does not translate the inclusion operator (!) into SQL.  Not sure why this wasn't coded since it is essentially a full join.  If you want a full join in SQL you have to either write it in SQL or use the SQL builder in Paradox.

RE: Change Value
I have the zip file you sent to Mike.  Unfortunately, I haven't found the inventory table.  Also I don't see either an order or orderdetail table.  Probably you can straighten me out.

other possible problems
Make sure that your server is not also running virus and malicious software checking on the folders containing the paradox data.  Are you able to use paradox to interactively modify data without locking up?  Does the user and paradox have full control of the data directory?  Is the data in a public non virtualized folder?

Change Mouse Cursor Icon
Hi Does anyone know if it's possible to change the icon of the mouse cursor? I want to change it to an arrow when hovering over a table, instead of the 'line' cursor. Thanks for any help!

Use the setMouseShape procedure.  The Objectpal help on this is quite good.

RE: Custom method call in a calcul...
You might want to determine if the problem is in your custom method or in the calculated field.  Try a very simple custom method that returns a string like "Test".  Call that in your calculated field.  If it works then something is amiss with the value that your custom method is returning.  At least you will have determined if how you are calling the custom method is correct.

RE: How can I use a Date variable ...
In the first example you use  '01/18/2013' to compare to a date field.  In the second you use a string or memo variable FechaMaxS to compare to a date field.  Thus the type mismatch.  If you declare a date var FetchMaxD and assign date( "18/01/2013") you should not get the type mismatch

RE: USING JOIN WITH executeQBE IN ...
Give this a try Check _Join1 , ~S  The only problem with this is that if S is blank you will get an error due to an extra , in the field criteria.
