Report vs Form size
I'm having a bit of an issue with the window size of my reports and forms.  I want my forms to remain at the full size of the screen.  Under Form Data Properties I have checked off size to fit, I have several forms and when I open them they remain at full screen. The problem is that when I run reports they always come up a smaller screen size eventhough I have size to fit checked off under properties.  This wouldn't be much of a problem except for the fact that whenever I do open up a report not only does it shrink the report size but it shrinks the size of all the open forms, then after I close the report I have to maximize all my forms again.  This is driving me nuts as I run reports all day long.  Any suggestions? Thanks,  Teresa

New Paradox User

Help!!!  I am a new Paradox user and I am not a programmer or a techie.  I've been working here for 6 months and have been able to figure out how to create basic forms and reports but I'm trying to find training or manuals that will get me to the next level.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I found the manual for Borland's paradox 7.5 (win 95) to be a great reference. Maybe you can find it on eBay.

He Teresa, You can do this by opening the report hidden, maximize it, then show it.

Problem with Launcher Expert
Paradox really puzzles me, a lot.  I am trying to create a launcher with tabs for my Forms, Reports and Queries.  I used the Launcher Expert but it will not let me re-size the form to the desktop.  The option "Size to desktop" is checked off under preferences but the form will not comply.  When I move the form in Run mode to the place I would like it to be on the screen and then run it, it automatically changes to the original settings where the top of the form is almost at half the page.  When I hit design mode again it stays at the wrong settings.  I don't have this problems with any of my other forms but this is the only one I have used the Launcher Expert to create.  Any ideas?  I could just create it from a blank form but I'm trying to avoid programming all those buttons, I have a lot.  Thanks,  Teresa

Thanks Daniel, Being a novice at Paradox, SQL and Object PAL I was trying to avoid the whole messing with the code thing.  However I cut and pasted the Event coding from another form that was working correctly and it worked  :-) Thanks, Teresa

Problem with Calculated Fields
I'm having a problem with calculated fields.  The 10 fields fields are Title, First, Middle, Last and Jr. Sr., Spouse/Partner Title, S/P First, S/P Middle, S/P Last, S/P Jr. Sr.  For some reports we need to have the separate first and last names but some reports we need to have the full names plus the partner name if it is not a spouse. I know the calculation needs to read as follows: Title+" "+ First Name+" "+Iif(Middle Name<>"",Middle Name,"")+" "+Last Name+" "+Jr. Sr. I keep getting an Unexpected Protection Viloation.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?  Thanks,  Teresa

Sorting Report Groups
I have a question regarding the sorting of Groups in a report.  I know how to sort the band by going to Band Properties but the only options are ascending and descending.  Is it possible to create a personalized sort?  For example I want my groups to be: Foundation Contributions, Corporate Contributions and Individual Contributions and the contributors would fall under each group.  I need my report to list the Foundation Contributors first however since C comes before F the Corporate Contributors come up first.  Is there any workaround? Thanks,  Teresa

Data Model Problem Linking Two Tables

 RE:
Ok, I created a new table and that worked however the key symbols were still missing from the Data Model but I was still allowed to select them.  Previously I was trying to link tables that already had information in them but now I will have to re-enter the contributor information (which I was going to have to do anyway for this new format) Thanks a bunch Teresa

Using Secondary Indexes
I have Paradox 9 and I created a database with a key.  I set up a secondary sort using the Secondary Index under Restructure Table.  Everything looks fine and I hit save but the sort does not change on the table.  My reports and forms also sort by the key, not by the Secondary Index.  I got no error messages.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

Yes!!!! Thank you all so much for your help and sorry for the delay in responding, I was busy on other projects so I just got a chance to look at this again.  I see now, when in design mode I right click on the All Records band and choose Sort and that will allow me to change the sort.  Thanks again, I can now move forward (or at least attempt to) with my project  :-)  Teresa

Hi, I have Paradox 9 and whenever I try to save a query with more than one Filter (F12) I get an error message that reads "The Query is Too Long" when I try to re-open it.  Is this a problem area for Paradox or is their something I can do to remedy?   Thanks,   Teresa
