RE: Paradox on Windows 10 Locking
Also,  I tried the runtime and decided it was very flaky,  so quit using it.

Database Desktop on Windows 10
I've been using Database Desktop for years to maintain Paradox tables, but it now appears that DBD doesn't work on Windows 10 for build 1703 or later.  Is there an updated DBD that does work?  Or is there an alternative tool I can use?  I've found several tools that will let me view and modify the data in Paradox tables, but none that will let me modify the table structures.  Any suggestions?

RE: Database Desktop on Windows 10
First,  I want to point out that it is not a 32bit vs 64bit issue.  Switching from one to the other will not fix the proble., , However, If you search EBAY,   for "Corel WordPerfect Office X8 Professional" or "Corel WordPerfect Office X9 Professional"  there are numerous people selling license keys.  If you buy one,  make sure it is a PROFESSIONAL key,  as that is the version that includes paradox., , I think we can find you a download if you get the key.

RE: Win 10 and Installation Issue
I use ezdialog and it works with  pdox11.  The only anomaly that I have found is that the up/down arrow keys no longer scroll the contents of lookup dialogs

Paradox 10 hanging since upgrade to Windows 10
Hi, Has anyone managed to get Paradox 10 working satisfactorily on Windows 10? Care to share your setup please? We upgraded to Windows 10 last week and since then Paradix hangs 4-5 times a day. We manage to get it going again by having everyone log off and deleting all the lock files but it's getting a but frustrating. We have our data in a shared folder and everyone is pointing to the same .NET file. I've tried every suggestion I've seen here and elsewhere with no luck so far. Any tips, pointers, suggestions gratefully received.  Thanks  Delordson

RE: Paradox 10 hanging since upgra
Have you checked the auto-disconnect setting?  , , To turn-off the auto-diconnect feature, you could also edit the Windows Registry. Navigate to the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters
Change the hexadecimal value of autodisconnect to ffffffff. Click OK and Exit. Alternativey, you could also download and apply this Fix It from KB297684.

Printer Driver Settings
We have  been running Paradox 11 on Windows 7 for awhile. We have bought new Windows 10 pc‘s and are going through the configuration process. We have a Konica C658 printer. We are running into an issue where Paradox will not pick up the default printer preferences. For example, in the printer driver we have set Paper size = 14.5 x 11 Orientation = Portrait Print Type = 1-Sided Staple = Left Corner But when you print from Paradox, for example instead of Print Type = 1-Sided, we are getting 2-Sided. I know I can set some of these settings via code(I don‘t believe I can set it to staple). But I‘d rather not go back and change this on every form where I print reports. Has anyone run into issues with Paradox not picking up the printer preferences that are set on the printer driver? Oall other apps, such as the Microsoft Office apps, work fine. Thanks, Gary

RE: Printer Driver Settings
I have had some similar issues. Paper size and orientation.   Those were solved by opening the report.rsl file and resetting the printer/layout preferences inside the report, , There are some bugs in the various Printer methods in Paradox,  specifically PrinterSetCurrent(PrinterName), , Also I have had issues with some newer driver default setups.  At times I have been able to  create a LOCAL PORT (pointing to the network device) on the machine and that would fix it. , Normally,  for me, closing Paradox,  Setting the default settings via control panel,  then opening the paradox would give me a temporary work-around.

RE: .. used alone in QBE
They appear to do the same thing to me.  In either case TestAnsi will not be returned in the record set. In the first case, TestAnsi has a criteria which should return all rows in the second case there is no criteria (and no Check),  so it should also return all rows

BDE LANGDRIVER
Anyone have an idea of what the difference is between these two drivers are? 'ascii' ANSI     vs   Paradox 'ascii' The reason for the question, I have recently seen sporadic issues with the former, but have had inconsistant results when testing for the issue. For instance  SetGenFilter(Some_DYNARRAY)  might, and I emphasize might,  give errors with the former,  but does not with the later. With the latter, When exporting a table to excel, if a fiels is blank, data equal to one space is exported, with the former an empty string is exported. Just hoping to get a handle on how these are different and if possible,  how to change or check the the setting when the paradox application launches.

Paradox on Windows Server 2012
We migrated from using a run of the mill Windows XP box as a server to Windows Server 2012; one of the applications we use is a simple 3 table database which stopped working the moment the files were being accessed from the new server. We could see data but trying to add anything would result in a Lock Time Out error. I discovered that if I remove Referential Integrity from the detail table structure, and just assign it through the data model on the form, everything works. Would it be OK to leave it like that? or would it be somehow dangerous for the integrity of the data? Could the problem have come from some setting on the server? The person who installed the server for us doesn't think so but I'm not sure he is as familiar with Windows 2012 Server as I thought. For the time being I will be monitoring the data and checking that nothing is lost. Any suggestions? Thanks

RE: Paradox on Windows Server 2012
this may not apply to your environment, but, I have had similar issues when the users permission is restricted in the PRIVATE directory. This tends to happen when the user is in a Terminal Servier or Citrix environment,  The private folder is set by default to some folder buried in the Program Files area of the servers C:.   You might try manually controlling that  with the -p<path>  command line to see if the error is affected in any way.

RE: trouble using SendDLG() on 201
I dont have a dog in the fight,  and I may not understand the problem...but... If I were trying to implement an email solution in Paradox, I would consider using a powershell script that would open and send a predefined file/content.   That would allow me to have paradox shell windows to execute the script thereby taking PARADOX out of the picture (as much as possible) Look at , https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Send-HTML-Email-Powershell-6653235c

RE:
What version of Paradox? I had a very similar issue on Ver 8.  (Before Win 10 killed it)  The issue was related to the BDE Version that was running (which is really related to the SMB protocol that is being run under the covers,  so you might look into that on the Win 10 server).   Anyway,   The pre-installed BDE version(contained in the PDOX 8 install) worked forever,  then I started seeing the error pop up. There were some tables that would open,  others that just flat refused.  My issue was usually tied to the installation of a new server (Small Business 212, for one) After installing BDE 5.2,  the problem went away. Let me know if you want to try BDE 5.2,   I can probably scrounge up a url for the download.
