Forms Event Model Confusion
I have never found just the right combination of events for the following situation. In the following argument..... "C:\Program Files (x86)\Paradox\Programs\pdxwin32.exe" -c -q -pE:\OutsourceWork\V11\priv -wE:\OutsourceWork\V11 _stub.fsl Paradox will launch and display the _stub.fsl   form (no problem) When the form opens I want specific code to run AFTER the form is fully displayed. Two question 1.  How do I WAIT until the form is fully displayed 2. What event should I put the code in? My current problem is that there are 5-10 function calls that take place, each displaying results in a list on the screen.  And regardless of how many SLEEP() I put in the thing it will not display the form until about  halfway through the code execution. Sometimes only flickering onto the screen briefly before closing. Many thanks!

RE: Forms Event Model Confusion
The issue was caused by the form property DialogForm and Dialog Frame both equal true.   In that situation the form would not display until the code execution completed. When set to False,  the form displays, then processes the status and database updates as expected. Thanks

RE: OPAL to DISPLAY QB Tool
Thanks Jay,  but you misunderstood the question.  I dont need the text,  I need the designer to open and display for a query that was pre-designed and saved. In OPAL, var Q Query endvar q.readfromfile("c:\\temp\\somequery.qbe") ; now, i want q.displaydesigner() or q.restructure(), or menuaction.newquery(q) or any other of things I haven't found thanks, Jeff

OPAL to DISPLAY QB Tool
hello,   This must be an oversight(or Alzhiemers) on my part. How do I open a query using ObjectPAL  and display it in the query editor so that I can modify? For a table I do the following var,    t string, endvar t = editTableList ; (THIS IS A NAME FROM LIST OF TABLE NAMES) dlgRestructure (t)

Private Path
Does anyone know if DURING the install of Paradox (v11),  whether any paths are saved in some hidden/buried config file? This is the issue.  I have a user (Win 10,  PDOX 11) whose software is not acting normally.  while instigating I decided to run table repair.  However,  when table repair launches it throws an error regarding the ERRORS.DB table in the blahblah\pdxpriv folder.  Only the path it is barfing up is not the the private folder that is set/configured in paradox.   Wondering where it is finding this erroneous path. Thanks jeff

depending on how you install and how you configure the bde, there can be any number of entries in the registry.. with p11, there are also the potential conflicts of not clearing that stupid reg cleaner thing from the machine and the registry.. what you see is NOT always what you get

Using Corel Web Server
Mike's Paradox book has an excellent section in the back on using web servers with Object Pal. Is there more info out there that can explain how to use .HTT files in more detail, possibly more examples?

Set Range/Pattern Match
I am working with a PDX8 program which uses Wahl2Wahl's table lookups which work very well. The table lookups do not function correctly on PDX10, the up/down arrows and tab do not work. I am trying to create something similar and combining  set range and locate pattern. I can get either to work but not together. Is there a way to code in such a way that the setRange is the default but the user can also type .. to enable the locate pattern logic? method keyPhysical(var eventInfo KeyEvent), , Var,   s  string, endVar,     doDefault,  ,      s = self.value,      ,      ;PART.setRange( self.value, self.value+"zzz" ),    ,       ignoreCaseInStringCompares(yes),       advancedWildcardsInLocate(Yes) ,       PART.locatePattern("DESC",s),   , endmethod Thanks. Steve

I will take a stab at it, Unfortunately,I am on vacation this week. , send a a few sample records, as well as a rough count on how many records you will be searching. I will use that info to create something. Keep in mind, I have never done this, I only presume that I can do it, AND since I have a similar issue will give it a shot. , Jeff

RE: Printing in Windows10
In PDOX8, I had a similar issue, some reports would crash paradox when sent to the printer. I used a service pack to fix that,  Not much help I know....But I recall in some instances I was able to display reports on the screen (as opposed to running/printing directly to the default printer) then use the built in print functionaly,, just a thought. one more(thought). Is the version number of the MSVCRT.dll  the same?   This was one of the DLLs that caused the DLL Hell problems in old windows systems.   If you search the machines,  you are likely to find   , msvcrt, msvcrt20, msvcrt40, .... these are all versions of the same dll.   Maybe there is one missing?, , And yet another thought,   Does a C++ library need to be registered?  (I cant remember), , Jeff

RE: Table Corruption
Please confirm this statement, " is the table size more than 1/2 the max, for that block " I believe you are referring to, Paradox tables hold a max of 65536 blocks, which can be block sizes of 1,2,4,16,32kb therefore the max sizes per table can be (in approx sizes):, , 1kb blocks - 64Mb, 2Kb blocks - 128Mb, 4Kb blocks - 256mb, 16Kb blocks - 1Gb, 32Kb blocks - 2Gb In this users problem table:  The block size is 32 The record byte size is 207 24 Fields The file size on disk is 86,210 KB I will work on your steps,  However I dont have Chimney Sweep,   but I might have the tutility. However,  I don't see how this is any different than taking a virgin copy of the table and inserting the records,  which has been done. Thanks Jeff
