Paradox 10 / Word via COM
Summary, , We have a Paradox 7 application that has been successfully using Word 97 Spell Check capability for Paradox text fields. The routine (method) that calls Word is written in Delphi 5 and held in a library (dll)., , Problem, , We upgraded the application from Paradox 7 to Paradox 10 (the Word library remaining unchanged). , , Now when the user clicks on the spell check button in the Paradox application the spell check function runs correctly, but once the Word library routine calls the Word CheckGrammar function then after around ten seconds a spurious message box "Server is Busy" pops up offering "Switch To" or "Retry" options. , , What causes this unwanted message? How do I get rid of it?

Also, there is a spell checker in Paradox 10 (right click on field) that may remove your need for the Word checker.

Update clients data
I have two clients conected to the same database. When a client update a record in a table, I don't know how to update the records for the other client (the client must refresh the data to update the records). How can I do this automatically?, Thanks in advance.

The only way that client 2 can see the changes client 1 has made is for client 2 to issue another select. You cannot force InterBase to refresh a client !

Opening Forms in Pdox 10
I have a large Paradox app (~900 design objects) which I am attempting to migrate from Paradox 7 to Paradox 10. (I gave up trying to migrate to Paradox 9 because of the large number of reporting bugs in the version), , My application uses a lot of windows (as opposed to Dialog boxes) that completely overlay each other. These all behave perfectly in Pdox 7 (and Pdox 9), but in Pdox 10, if I open form 1, followed by form 2, followed by form 3 and then close form 3, I end up back on form 1 instead of form 2 - am I missing something ? I have not made any changes to any of my design objects except to open them, compile and save them in Paradox 10, , Help please !

Does anyone know whether SP4 is contained in Wordperfect office 2000 Enterprise? that is what Corel Australia sent me because I couldn't download the patch on internet (size).I have lost some navigation bars in the delivered version and they tell me the patch is what I need. However after reinstalling Paradox9 from Office the problem is still with me.

Re: Cannot insert into triggered interbase field.
I use this technique all over the place in my apps and don't see the problem that you have. I am using ObjectPAL and pass-through SQL., , Have you tried inserting a record using an INSERT statement in Windows iSQL ? If this fails then you have an InterBase problem otherwise it is something in your Delphi App, , Have you tried doing a simple hard-coded insert using a TQuery component under a button in your Delphi App ?

Cannot insert into triggered interbase field.
Hi there,, , I'm having trouble inserting a value into one of my interbase tables. The table in question has 5 fields, the primary key Operator_ID has a trigger set on it to autoincrement. It is a NOT NULL field as it is the primary key, so I don't enter a value via my Delphi front end. I have also set the required property for this field in Delphi to false., , I consistently am getting the message 'Field XXX requires a value however'., , Should interbase not handle this itself the trigger type is BEFORE INSERT. Within delphi I am using a DataModule with a an IBdatabase/IBTransaction/IBTable and a standard datasource as components and am attempting o do the insert via a navigation component and dbgrid. , , Any suggestions this thing is driving me crazy slowly but surely., , Thanks in advance, PL

Re: Stand alone .
Use hideSpeedBar() in the application's main form open() method - and create your own custom menu to override Pdox'x default menus.

formatting memo text
In my application I need to produce a view of a concatenation of memo fields, so I get all my memo data and delimit it with headers and footers. I then display all of this data in a read-only unbound field on a form. What I really want to do is to be able to alter the font on the delimiters so that the text is easier to read. I can do this interactively by selecting portions of the text and altering the font, but does anyone know how to do this with ObjectPAL (I am using Paradox 7)

Also check out the action constants. There are action constants for moving the cursor to the top, bottom, up a line, left one word, etc. Also, there are constants for selecting text. You can use these constants in your code to select the text you wish to alter and then you can apply the style change. , , Something like:, , action(SelectLeft); This is psuedo-code.
