Death match: Windows Vista versus XP
http://www.infoworld.com/article/08/03/17/12TC-vista-versus-xp_1.html?source=NLC-PLATFORMS&cgd=2008-03-19 Interesting article if nothing else... I just bought a new laptop on Sunday and it came with Vista, but I have to say it isn't anything I would pay extra for or upgrade a machine I already have to... If you're a self-proclaimed Vista fan, what are your reasons? Just curious... from both a user point of view and from a person having to support/develop to it....

RE: Coding ASP Classic on Linux
Sorry for the confusion... Yes, ASP coding can be done in a simple text editor.  The only IDE's I have used to code it (Visual Studio, Dreamweaver) simply provide some intellisense, but that's about it.  I'm not aware of an ASP Unix/Linux editor.

coupling and cohesion
Need a little help. Have the question "How has OOD helped with coupling and cohesion?" Can find plenty of definitions but no real answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do anyone hear about PopIn Ads before?
I am a new webmaster and I want to promote my web site. So I surf some exchange banner program site. Occasionally, I find one exchange banner program called Popin Ads. I click and see Demo http://popinads.com/preview.php?type=publisher . I feel that this kind of banners are attractive. Do anyone use this kind of banners before? Can you guys share your experience to me? Thanks alot.

I personally do not usually click on banners that take me to another site than the one I am currently viewing, mostly because one is never sure on where exactly it will take you, especially when it is used through some third party service. If the banner does interest me, I'll do a web search for the product or company name and 'attempt' to get more information that way.

changing window TARGET
Hi Board, , , I had an e-commerce website and the problem in question is this., , When users brose the products, they had and small thumnails with and INFO>> link and a BUY NOW button (like the major e-commerce sites), , When user click on INFO>> I had a Javascript that open a new browser window to sow detailed information of the product and with the corresponding BUY NOW button again. This work fine. What I need is that when user click on the button (BUY), close the active window and return to the previous calling an ASP procedure in other page., , How cat I achive this? Big Grin!

Have you made sure the Oracle service is starting when you reboot and log into Windows? It should be set to automatic so that it will start up on it's own.

Thanks for the notice. Another error produced by the old boards system, which is why we created our own at Prestwood.  Hopefully no more errors or headaches.

It's been a little while since I had the privilege of programming in C++ but if I remember correctly you have to explicitly throw an exception rather than the runtime throwing it automatically like Java or .NET...

C - Sorting a data file - Need Help !!!
I have a small C program that reads in a file and prints out the contents fine. The problem is with sorting that data and getting it to print. What prints out is garbage information, but what numbers of garbage that are printed are sorted, if that helps. Please let me know what I'm missing. I'm using a simple bubble sort and the code is roughly 50 lines. I'm not sure where the data being sorted is coming from, but basically, I need to know how to read in from a file and sort that information to print/or write to another file. Please help !!

How is the data in the first file formatted, are they character strings, numbers, what? What are you using to store the inputted data in, just an array?   A little more information I think is needed if we are going to be able to help you out...

Need help with BYPASSKEY
Hello everyone., , Is there a way to set the BYPASSKEY (shift) to false for users who sign into a database but allow it to be used for myself who is the administrator of the database? I don't want people who have some knowledge of Microsoft Access to be able to use the SHIFT key. There is highly sensitive information in this database that I have created., , Thanks so much for any help.

RE: Ideas needed...
I can imagine if you do a web search for software license agreements you will find many generic documents that will help you get started. There are a few ideas that I have seen used, such as the software discontinues operating after a certain date and the user must obtain some activation code that extends the date (which you control through your own CRM, website, etc.), or you can simply not support a customer who isn't paid up in their support fees. I guess it kind of depends on how 'hands on' you would like to be with the process.
