Unknown internal operating system error
I cut and paste images into an image field on a Paradox form and I've been doing this with no problems for years; yesterday I got a message saying 'Unknown internal operating system error' with a reference to the .MB file, when I tried to paste an image in. Paradox hung. After restarting, I verified and rebuilt the table and it imported the image ok but when I tried to do it with a new record the same thing happened. I'm using Paradox 10.0.0.663 running on a Lenovo laptop with Vista Home Premium and Service Pack 2. The database has 121,900 records in it but not all of them have images. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.,

Thanks!  I've used ChimneySweep before (probably have a license for it!), but I'd forgotten about it.  Thanks for the heads-up/reminder!  I'll check it out.  (As I recall, it was very useful in fixing things that the built-in "fixer" couldn't fix.  I'll try to dig it up & see what it can do with these memo fields!) Thanks again! Aloha, -pt

login() for email
I'm using a Corel Webserver control to capture data from a web page.  Works great.  After the posting, I want to send an email to a staff member that the data has been posted. I have the following code: m.logon("","" ), , ,     m.addAddress("products@consoftonline.com"), ,     m.setSubject("A Patient from the Portal"),     m.setMessage("Please check Patient: " + theName + " " + theAppointmentDate),     ,     m.send()  The problem is that the Logondlg box appears each time .  It's supposed to send the message automatically.  What am I missing?

Repeating code a varied number of times.
I am working on a program for a company I used to work for.  They had a delivered form that would take a weight and divide it by the number of containers in the stack.  From there it would print the number of tags that were in the stack and record all the information in the tables.  I have had to make changes to this form but don't have the original fsl used to create it so I am having to start from scratch and can't quite figure out how to get Paradox to repeat a command a varied number of times.  The number will be varied based on what the operator inputs when he is weighing product.  Any help would be great! Thanks, Joe Roark

Printer/font manager combination invalid
I am using 16bit Pdox 7, xp pro Sp2. I have been printing to an HP 750C Plus printer from my numerous Pdox applications for several years. Several days ago it started showing the error above whenever I try to print any report. The problem occurred overnight. It printed fine at 10 pm but the next morning it failed. Nothing was changed in the computer. I have done the following to try and correct the problem., 1. Removed and reinstalled the printer & driver., 2. Removed and reinstalled Pdox., 3. Created a simple application in PDox to test the printer., If I print from MS Word (or any other application) to the printer, it works just fine. When tne failure occurs, I exit Pdox and see a GP fault error. , I'm lost... I have no idea where to look for "Printer/Font Manager Combination Invalid"., Any suggestions?

Paradox 10/11 Printing
Well, I would have been content to stay on Paradox 9 SP4, but IT tells us Paradox 10 (full version) and 11 (Runtime) are going to be the new standard for us here., , Printing works differently in 10 and 11. Opening a report, then printing it, often (but not always) results in the dreaded "Warning!" dialogue box appearing, which can be confusing to end-users. Has anyone found a way to keep it from displaying?, , Also, in the printer dialog box there's now an "Edit Settings" dialog box, but there's little in online help to tell me how I should be setting things up. Has anyone had success with this, and how did you set things up?

I use Chimney Sweep Version 3 to fix this problem when Tutil16 fails. Otherwise Mike's suggestion is right on a usual. You can obtain Chimney Sweep software at www.sundial.com for less than $50 last time I checked.

Using Today's date in a SQL statement
I'm a one month newbie at using Paradox and am trying to build a SQL statement using a comparison to Today's date. I've tried using the getdate() function but Paradox tells me that the function isn't supported., , Any help would be appreciated., , Thanks,, , Biff

No, I don't think that is supported in SQL., I can think of two ways around this:, (1) Interactively, using an old-fashioned QBE query, and using today() for the date., (2) Use the ObjectPAL function today() to assign the date to a variable, and use that as a "tilde varible" in a query in a script., If you need more help, please describe the query you're trying to run, or the SQL you have already written, and we'll help you with the syntax.

separating data from a field?
Hi, Can any one tell me how to separate data in to a new table eg:, in my table.dbf there is a field called "tech name", it would have data in it something like this, |UN1992 Acetone |, |UN2810 l/s Phenol soln |, etc, I would like to strip away the "UN" and put the next 4 digits into another table field called UN Number then any data after the 7th space into the same new table but in a field called tech name., Sometimes in my table you can get, eg, , |UN1992 Acetone |, |UN2810 l/s Phenol soln |, |NDW sharps |, etc, with NDW i would like this to be replaced with , "------" in the new table field called UN Number., If I am making sense to any one and thy know the answer. I would be in debt to the them., , Jay

Paradox 10 stabiliy
Hi there. I am familiar with Paradox 7, and I just downloaded the trial version 10. Problem is, I get nothing but Protection faults and errors., , Example: Define two tables, with Integer index and some extra fields. Then try to add a table lookup. result when hitting "save": "File name is too long for a paradox version 5.0 table". Hit save again and a pdx32win.exe access violation., Every time! I can delete the entire database, start again and the same error., , Playing with referential integrety lead to similar results, sometimes with things failing without reason or the save button just not doing anything (not greyed out, though)., , A have not found a patch on Corel's site., , My Question: How can anybody use this product? What do I do now? Is there a way to get/download/buy the version 9? Would that work any better?

VK Keyboard Constants
Recently I've been trying to write some code to prevent my operators from getting into Windows via the Windows buttons on keyboards. I thought it may be as simple as determining the VK Keyboard constant and adding it to each form's keyphysical method. However, these buttons are not addressed in the Paradox Help Files for Paradox 10. Roll Eyes , , But I just found them today Eek! ....thought I'd put it out there for others, so that it will help you too., , VK_LWIN ; Left Windows Button, VK_RWIN ; Right Windows Button , , I just wanted to help in a small way. My way of saying a litle "thank you" to all of you who have greatly helped me over the years. Big Grin! , , Thanks,, , ABP

File size limit on .MB
Does anybody know if there is a ~ 2GB file size limit on .MB files? I have a graphic field that is storing images that whenever it grows much over 2 GB, I can't write to it anymore. It's on a Win98 box and I know Fat32 has a theoretical limit of 4GB but could this still be the problem? Would upgrading the OS on the server to 2K with NTFS get us over this problem or am I going to have to drop using the graphic field type and push each entry to a separate file?

I would recommend keeping your graphic images in separate files, and using one field of the database to store the name and path as a string.

Paradox 9 IF (iif) statement for report calculatio
I have a database with several TaxTypes (e.g., 01, 02, 03, etc.) that are assigned to some 5,000 accounts. I would like to sum the values associated with TaxType 02 only. IÆve entered the following formula in a calculated field in my report. The formula took, but it doesnÆt work. It included all TaxTypes in the sum., , iif([ANSWER.TaxType]=ö02ö, SUM([ANSWER.VALUE],0), , Excel has a function, sumif, which works well for this type of calculation, which looks like the following:, , sumif(range-of-TaxType-col, ô02ö, sumrange-of-value-col), , Does Paradox 9 have anything that might help? Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Expecting a column separator in table header
When I run a sorted report I get "Could not initialize report" followed by "Expecting a column separator in table header". This goes away if I don't sort the detail band. I've rebuilt the underlying table to no effect. , , I've got 7 group bands in the report, so I thought that might be the problem, but it doesn't go away as I remove bands., , Any ideas? Thanks!

Never mind. Turns out that when I shorten the name of the underlying table, the problem goes away. The table name was around 30 characters., , I've been haphazardly messing around with this one for a month off & on. Interesting that the solution pops into my head a minute after I finally got around to posting it here. :)

Paradox 8 Form file corrupted?
I use Paradox 8.00.302 I have a form that has been working fine for almost a year.  I periodically update the code, verify it's working, and then deliver it.  Last time I did this was on 1/10/2014.  This morning, I go to open the FSL version to look at the code, and I get the Error message, "Cannot interpret file. It could be corrupt."  The delivered form opens without a problem. I CANNOT lose this code.  Any help would be appreciated. Gary
