I think what you are looking for is an outer join between the third table and the second table, this will give a result set that includes all the revision letters for each drawing. It might look something like this in SQL, , SELECT DISTINCT drawings.drawID, drawings.name, revisions.id, revisions.details, revlets.rid, FROM revlets, drawings INNER JOIN revisions ON drawings.drawID = revisions.id, ORDER BY revisions.id, revlets.rid;

lookup form application
I am working with creating an application which entails the folowing. Two table, which are connected by a one to many relationship, the one being an indexed number. from the query I am trying to make a workable form whci hwil do the following- allow a user to enter in the fields for street number, street, city, zip. By macro/module command the information about that address would be filled in for the other half of the form. , Also, if the user does not have all of the info, they would be able to lokk up by entering in partial information, and a list would result for possible addresses. (then the user would pick the right one and proceed), The biggest problem is that the street number is in the query as two fields, beginning number and end number. There are many sections on one street and they are odds and evens., Any suggestions?

It sounds to me like what you want to do is use a parameterized query something like, , SELECT drawings.drawID, drawings.name, FROM drawings, WHERE (((drawings.drawID) Between [minNo] And [maxNo]));, , If you want to include the street name in this query you could add , , and Where Street like [somestreet]

horizontal data to verticle data???
Hi,, , I have data in a table where each line represents one record per subject. I, need to create a table using this data where each line will represent fields, from the single record but still keep the identifying subject ID., For example, the data I have now looks like this :, 1000,1,2,3,4,5,6, 2000,1,3,5,7,5,6, (using commas to denote separate fields, the first field is the subject ID), , I need the data in my new table to look like this:, 1000,1,2, 1000,3,4, 1000,5,6, 2000,1,3, 2000,5,7, 2000,5,6, , I typically use Paradox 5.0 but am in the process of migrating to Access 2000., In Paradox I would create a table, and then use an insert query with example, elements defined. Is there a similar method in Access?, , Hope someone can help!

Update Queries

Is this something you are going to do many times or just a one time event? If it is a one time event then I would use the query builder to create an update query. It might look something like :, , UPDATE test, test2 SET test2.field1 = [test]![field1], test2.field2 = [test]![field2], WHERE (((test2.id)=[test]![id]));, , in the SQL view

printing memo fields
data entered into a memo field (and spell checked) prints differently (same data, different format) on the report than it appears on the form. How can I make it print like it displays?, , [This message has been edited by warren (edited January 10, 2001).]

I'd suggest you set it to "Lock Edited" and that you enable record level locking also.

Changing Record source in report from form
How do you change the record source(like the query name) in a report from a form that has a combo box of choices? Or how can you add a column of choice in a query from a form. Ex: have a database of people with about 50 codes based on committees they belong to. They can belong to 1,more than 1 or none. The table has a field (yes/no) for each of the codes. Without making 50 queries or 50 different reports how could we choose a code to filter on, then run a report (Labels, emails, etc) hopefully using a form to choose the code or codes we want. Thanks for the help. Gerry

need (sort of) a search engine
Hi, , I have a table with fields names such as Company, products, etc., , I need help on how to make search engine to retrieve records in my products , column., , I was planning to make an unbound text box with a command button beside it., The user enters the keyword in the text box and the command button opens a, query or table which lists all records containing the keyword., , I tried to make one using a query with a criteria parameter referring to my unbound text box, like:, , Field: Products, Table: Companies, Sort:, Show:, Criteria: [Form]![Search Form]![Unbound TxtBox Name], , This works fine as long as you know the exact record entry in the table but doesn't return , anything if the word entered lacks even just one character., , I tried using Like operator with an asterisk at the start and end using the parameter above but it doesnt work., , MLT

Tables/Combo and form ?
Hello, , I'm having a 'few' problems with a access database I've been given to develop. , The major problem at the moment is this; , On one of my forms I have a combo-box which offers a selection of several 'sites', once a 'site' is selected I need to be able to limit the fields selection displayed in several other combo-boxes, (making sense ?). , e.g. , Combo1:|Coffee|Tea|Water (Bold been the highlighted choice) , Combo (2-6) |Black|White|Suger , Combo1 takes its data from one table while combo2-6 from another table. , , If you can make sense of this, do you have any suggestions ? , Cheers for any help

To do this the easy way you will need to base the content of the combos on tables. Then if you want to limit the selections in combo2 based on the current selection in combo1 you will need to create a SQL query and set the recordsource of combo2 to that query. Simple right, well maybe.

Nested Queries
I have two tables, Customers and Orders linked by OrderID. Customers can have many orders and orders may have many products. I need to return a list of customers and the details of there latest order. This does not seem too difficult but I'm stuck. , , I've tried using max(date) but this either, only returns all orders for the latest date, OR, returns all orders , , depending upon how I use it., , Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

syntax error SELECT statement
Here is a statement I am trying to construct under a command button on a form. On click the code is to sleect the value and place it in the foprm's field based on suer entry. As you can see the problem is that we are forced to work in a many to one envrionment. If you can help me with where the syntax error is, I would appreciate it. As you will see I am still learning code:, SELECT ("*Tblstreet.[PRCNT]*") FROM Tblstreet WHERE Tblstreet.BEGBLK => [Forms]![UserEntry]![Number] AND Tblstreet.BLOCK <= [Forms]![UserEntry]![Number] AND, Tblstreet.STREET Like "*[Forms]![UserEntry]![street]*" AND Tblstreet.TYPE LIKE, "*[Forms]![UserEntry]![type]*" AND Tblstreet.city LIKE "*[Forms]![UserEntry]![city]*" AND, Tblstreet.ZIPCODE LIKE "*[Forms]![UserEntry]![zip]*", , Thanks [IMG]http://prestwood.net/ubb/smile.gif[/IMG]

I have a database that will have the same info every two weeks but in the database it is necessary to have a field that exists for each day of the work week for some queries. I do not want unless necessary to re-enter that data for new days every two weeks. Is there an automated way to do this?

Jet Engine Error
I have been using Access for a while and have never run into this error. I have linked a .dbf table by using an Advantage Database Server (ODBC). When I open the table I get an error stating "Scaling of Decimal Value Resulted in Data Truncation" (Error 3759). Then all data in fields turn to #Name. When trying to find more about the error the only advice I get is that this error is linked to the Jet Engine. , , Sometimes this error comes up when I try to import the table as well. Is this an Access problem, a .dbf issue, or is it with the Advantage Database Server?, , What can I do to stop this from happening??, , Your help is appreciated!

SendKeys Macro Action
Is there a way to send the keys TAB or DOWN ARROW in a SendKeys Macro Action? If not, is there a better way using a macro in Access 2000 to Export to any given File format at a time? I know there is the Outputto action but that is limited and there is the Transfer Database action but that is also limited. I thought about the RunCommand action but Export is not one of the available choices so I thought I woyld try SendKeys but I can't seem to find the syntax for TAB and DOWN ARROW. Help????

What do you want to do. Sounds like you are looking is not in the macros but in VBA and the keypress, keydown and keyup events. In there you can trap for the ASCII value for the tab or down arrow. The bigger question as I said befor is what are you attempting to accomplish?

Getting fields with zero values to not print and n

I need to bring the report to less pages if these fields are zero. Help!!!

list boxes
I need help on making a list box do a specific action., , Say i had a list box A with options "foo" and "bewm", and another list box B with option "bar" "monkey" "spank" "luser" and "phear", , My question is what would I have to do in order to make it so when someone clicks on the option "foo" in list box A that when they look at the contents of B that they would be limited to only "bar" and "phear", and if they clicked option "bewm" in list box A that in list box B the only available options would be "monkey" "spank" and "luser", , so basically what i need to know is how to limit the contents of one list box based on what was selected in another., , if you need more details let me know. , , Thanks!

The first question that comes to mind is, is the data stored in a table or can it. In that case you can set the recordsource of the second list to a SQL statement based on the selection made in the first listbox. If you never expect the options in the second list to ever change (usually a bad assumption) you could in code clear the listbox and refill it using the additem. If you need more ask.

is there a way to make a report off of a report?
i have a report that generates about 300 pages of detail and then 6 lines in my footer which totals and sums the info in the detail. i would like a report that only shows those 6 lines. i tried to hide the detail but all it did was make the detail not visible and there were 300 blank pages. any suggestions?
1 Reply:

Dan
Without looking at the report it sounds like what you want to do is create a summary report. You will probably want to create a new report based on a query that returns the results you are looking for. You can however use the report you have but delete not hid all the detail fields, make sure the detail band and any group bands are minimized to keep from having multiple pages.

Running totals in query?
I need to do a count on several fields in a report. Take gender and class standing for example. I created a query that has class standing and student ID(primary key). I did a count on student it and group by on class standing. I then made another query with gender and student id (done same way). Now a third query pulls the two counts (one from each query) to give me them all in one query., , This works fine but the problem is I have a date field in this query also that has a between paramater that prompts the user for a beg and end date. When it runs it does not return the correct results. It seems to just bring back all records regardless of the date specified., , Do I need some kind of relationships to make this work right? All of my queries lead back to the same table., , Any help is appreicated., , Kurto
