Paradox 7 & 11
Hello folks, My name is Paul Barfoot. After reading what  great coding skills many of you have my opal skills seem so very limited and perhaps of limited or no value. I have written some Applications using Paradox 7 then delivered with Paradox 11  for use with Paradox 11 Runtime. I am 67 and have about 5% vision due to RP and that has rightly or wrongly kept me from expanding my skills and being chained to the keyboard even more than now., I have a simple personal accounting program and Last Will App on my web site that I would really like someone to look at. A local Accountant said he couldn't get it up and running so he couldn't appraise it. so I'm wondering if I should forget about it. If anyone has the time to check them out that would be  a boost. Even if you consider the applications worthless. I need an honest opinion. I have used the accounting program fro years so I know it works just fine.www.pkwapps,ca Cheers, Paul aka Pkw

Thank you Nicole, Any advice or encouragement will be most appreciated.  I am of course willing to pay whatever fees are involved ( within reason ) for an evaluation of Pkw Personal Accounting by one of the many experts. here at Prestwood. Best Regards, Paul Barfoot

I found Prestwood several years ago but I never introduced myself. My name is Daniel and I've been coding in Delphi on and off, but mostly on, since 1997. At the time, COBOL and BASIC was what I was coding in a client-server environment, before most people even knew what nTier architecture meant. Heck I didn't know, but was doing it. Someone in another department came up to me, presumably after seeking permission from my manager, and asked if I knew Delphi. I said, knew what? Having never heard of Delphi I said no, but was anxious to do something new, so I was transferred to the other department. I didn't what the future was for Delphi and it wasn't to be a .Net, however, Delphi has found me and paid me well over the past decade point five. Take care and talk to you later.

I just migrated from 9 to 11 under XP.  I have a report that prints a phonograph record album and counts the tracks if I have updated the contents of the album.  Under 9 the report shows "0" if no tracks are available.  Under 11 it defaults to "1" when no tracks are updated.  Can anyone help.  Dick Hill

File-Inventory - Master File-Contents - Child Report has a "defined Field" to count normal the number of records linked from Inventory. There is no special coding other than what is prompted by Paradox. I am not technically savvy so please bear with me.  What can I send to be more specific

My name is Dick Hill and I have been using Paradox and it's many iterations since prior to 4.  I use it to catalog a large jazz & blues record collection.  I do the album/cd inventory and then itemize each track by session date, artist etc. To date there are over 100,000 track records (no pun intended)! I just migrated from Paradox 9 to 11.  I have a report that lists an album and counts the tracks if I have added them.  The report now shows a 1 when no tracks are available.  A null count is returning "1"?  Any help here.  A new service pack? Thanks in advance. Dick

Hi All -
My name is Max B. and although I'm not new to PSD - I am new to these boards / forums.  I've been programming full time for the last 10 years  - I started back in the mid 80's with R:Base and Basic - and then moved to VB in the late 90's.  It was about 10 years ago when I first became acquainted with PSD - as I had changed to Paradox and before I forget - wanted to say Hi to Scott and Dan if they're still around --- as they were both instrumental at that time. I now do most of my programming in VB .NET and SQL, So - it's good to be here. Max,

Top of the mornin to ye!
Greetings from cold and wet Dublin! I'm joining this group in the hopes of learning somehting about Paradox. I find myself in a position of supporting an old but heavily used system, and although it appears to be pretty stable, have the odd issue now and then. Been figuring things out on my own..but some things I just don't know where to start. I myself am a SQL Server DBA who also currently does Lev 4 Dev support and some good old fashioned web development (asp classic), so I'm not completely useless :) Cheers Shellbot

Hello Everybody
Hi there, I'm Kefkolo (aka Kirk), A friend sent me the link here after I told him my goal of learning Asp.net and C# by the end of the year. I'm sort of new to programming. I took Assembler and Cobol in school back in the dark ages. I know HTML, CSS and a scripting language from Macro Express. But that's about it. I hail from a suburb of Dallas, Tx. Married with three kids and 4 grandkids. One of my sons is a programmer. I just want to say to all you skilled programmers I really appreciate your helping us newbies. And to all the newbies, I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I'm planning to. P.S. Mike, I'll try and get my picture posted as soon as I get one of myself on the computer. :-)

Hello Everyone
Hi, I am a programmer that has been using Delphi2006 (Pascal language) for about 6 months learning the client side.  I am now trying to convert the system I created to the intraweb.  I must admit that I'm finding it alot different and tougher than I had expected, which is why I've decided to join this Delphi forum.  I am confused.......ALOT!! I enjoy working with Delphi more so than other languages I have used and hope that this forum will help me to understand and enjoy the intraweb part just as much.  Thanks!!!

Hello PRestwood
Hello all out in Prestwood land My name is Daniel Kram. I live in Milwaukee, WI, but if you Googled my name, you would know where I live, so I just saved you some time. (grin) I am a developer in over 10 computer languages with about 20 (ugh) years of experience. Go ahead, you can guess my age now. My primary languages are Delphi (aka Pascal), HTML, XML (if you call it a language cough), and coming up on C# and .Net architecture/framework. I also use Dreamweaver as well as Visual Studio, but I think I am leaning more towards Dreamweaver. I have also done about 3 years of Java, but none lately. Lots of SQL and just now, I am beginning to refactor a MySQL Delphi project to ElevateDB., , I manage a few web sites, none too fancy or anything, but hey, they get the job done. I would like to become an active member here in any area I can be of help. Hope to talk to you soon - well not everyone all at once...

Importing current website
I  have an existing website that was built with Yahoo site builder and uses Yahoo and an FTP for loads. But Yahoo site builder doesn't have the options to do anything with my db or functions of my submit or shopping cart buttons. That I need to use VB. I had to get a new computer because the old crashed and am running Vista and had to get VS.net 2008. I found that I could load my entire site, images and all as well as connect my Access db to a server. I debugged and got no errors and also built the site and published the site. My question is since I don't have the site.master will my site still work? And if I need to program my form built in Yahoo site builder, will I be able to do this and will I be able to program my buttons and text and any other boxes like list, etc? , ,

I'm not familiar with Yahoo's webhosting, but I can tell you that the hosting we offer, and most others, allows you to do what you want. My recommendation is to develop your website locally and when it's fully debugged and ready to go, try posting it to Yahoo. If they don't support all your features, then find a hosting company that does.

Informatics Harvard
Hi Folks, I am a medical practitioner from New Zealand now working in informatics at Harvard. My preferred programming language is ObjectPal for which I have used Paradox for Windows 8 sine about 1997. Coming back to programming after 10 years, my scripts are still good, but a reinstall on XP gives me an error message trying to start a new framework application SO looks like I need to upgrade. Will take the upgrade question to another board. Cheers Shane

New Memeber introduction
Hello, My name is Patrick. I have been programming with Paradox for about 20 years. I have built three major databases and one web portal using Paradox 9. Currently, I am enrolled in college to get my BSIT/SE degree. I figure that with my limited experience and absolute true love of programming, I need to get moving on turning a hobby into a paying job. I look forward to contributing to this forum and learning from the experts. One side note, I have talking with Tony in the past,  and he helped understand the web server function of Paradox.
